COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Doppelbock Dunkel has a pleasant full and creamy body, with coffeeish aroma. Nicely warming with toffeelike malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish.

Deep mahogany-russet colour with a white head that attempted valiantly to stay on top of the body of the beer. Significant allspice, carob, chocolate, caramel and date aromas. It is a full, dark and heady aroma that puts you in mind of pannatone, treacle tart or similar dessert cakes by a fire with a cigar to follow. The flavour is all of that with a lovely almost peppery note on a sweetish body. This beer is balanced, elegant and indulges the drinker with a fondness for dessert. In the lager world this has to be at the top end of its nobility. It struck me just where I like to be tickled and will willingly have more of this beer. Gorgeous.

Walnut and tobacco nose, mild kibble hints. Very clear cola brown, thin head. Sweet cherry and prune. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

botte at home from trade with Saeglopur a while ago. dark brown / redish color, very small off-white head that dissolves quickly. smells malty sweet, liqueurish, some dried fruits, cherries, plums, smells a bit like cherry lemonade, some citric notes. full body, medium carbonation, bubbly on the throat, rather slick and oily mouthfeel. tastes malty sweet, some dried fruits, plums, a bit citric, quite a lot of dry hop bitterness after a while, makes it a bit medical for me. bitter / sweet finish. this one is just decent, i was expecting a bit more, the bitter-sweet / medical notes turn me off a bit, this one might benefit from some aging.

Very nice dunkel, if a bit too mellow. However, the malt character of this beer is very good.

March madness 2015. The beer has essentially no aroma. The texture is nice but not too sweet. I think the beer lacks the fancy noble hops notes I expected. Slightly disappointing.

Bottle from Edelweiss. Pours a dark mahogany color with a small grey head. A big malty nutty nose. The flavor is quite pleasant: rich toffee, caramel, coffee, light fruit, cake, a bit of chocolates. Very smooth. Nice. A lot like the powerful Samiclaus.
