Commercial Description:
Doppelbock Dunkel has a pleasant full and creamy body, with coffeeish aroma. Nicely warming with toffeelike malty sweetness, balanced by a hoppy-bitterness in the finish.

Reddish brown with a small off-white head. Weak aroma dominated by bready malt. Sweet and alcoholic with bready and dark sugar flavours. Less pleasant husky dry finish.

Bottle. Ruby pour with small cola like head. Dark fruit and maple syrup aroma. Flavor is one dimensional, hampered by more alcohol than an actual hop bitter finish.

Bottle: You could almost taste the malt and hopps upon opening the bottle with your nose. This brew poured an clear, auburn color with minimal head. While in tasted very good and some will prefer the bite of hopps it has, I found it just a touch bitter for my taste. Good for sure, but to me not great.

Bottled. Poured translucent iced tea brown with a nice copper shimmer.. short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up toffee, chocolate, and raisin sweetness with a bit of herbal accent.. deep and inviting. The flavor had drawn caramel and toffee sweetness with a little coffee bitterness and sharper boozy notes hitting toward the back. Medium-bodied on the palate but it felt rather empty at times.. not a good transition to the sharper finish.. OK.

[Bottle] Pours a really nice ruby brown with a small, quickly diminishing off white head. Aroma is nice and malty, with some raisins. Very little hops in the aroma. Nice caramel notes, with a bit of hop bitterness. Fairly light mouthfeel initially, but a watery finish. Decent, but just a little too thin for my taste.

Pours a nice dark brown with a hint of red and a bubbly beige head that dissipates fairly quickly. Very sweet malty aroma with toffee notes. Similar sweet malty flavor balanced with a roasted nuttiness, some molasas, hops and a warming alcohol finish. Pretty good beer but there are better doppelbocks with smaller price tags.
