COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional bock-beer-speciality of Castle Eggenberg. This beer is brewed only seasonally and therefore available during Christmas and Easter holidays. Careful and slow fermentation and maturation make Festbock a desired beer not only in Austria but also in Italy, where it is exported in 30 lt. kegs.

Bottled. Clear pale golden, rich but brief head. Concentrated grassy hop aroma along the lines of a richer south German pilsener. Hearty, buttery maltiness, solid fresh moutfeel, unusually richly hopped for an Austrian beer. Restrained malt sweetness. Pleasantly bitter finish. Thoroughly well made!

Light golden, small head, normal carbonation. Aroma is malty and herbal hoppy. Light sweet, malty flavor, metall notes, quite bitter finish. Alcohol is well balanced. A little bit to bitter for me.

Has a golden yellow color with moderate carbonation and little head. Smell is light sweet malts with some fruit hop aroma. Taste is similar to the smell with light malt and light hop bitterness. Overall it was a bit too thin for me.

Well I may be rating the flavour a little high here but I had just spent the day in the car driving from Toronto to Washington DC and it really hit the spot. Extremely pale, essentially translucent yellow with a big white head and tons of carbonation. The aroma and flavour both belied the appearance of thebeer and hit you with a bit of substance. I found it spicy and floral - like a grassy meadow full of malts and I'm not sure what. Lingers a little through a fairly crisp finish. OK.

Pours a translucent yellow with a medium white head. Nose is malty and hop-ish but I can swear I smell a hint of urine. Maybe it's just me, because no one else smelled it tonight. Some definite hop and malt mix on the tongue. Some grass and hay as well. Like a maltier pilsener, almost. Some of the taste reminded me of a buttered biscuit. The finish was crisp and slightly malted. Good beer.

Light clear gold with a nice, clumpy head. Nose malty, vaguely hoppy. Nice flavor, a bit sweet and crisp, slightly citric, but predominantly very grassy. Decent hop bite at the end, well balanced by some bready malts.

Crystal clear, straw-colored lager. Medium-sized, white, frothy head with great retention and good, weepy lacing. Weak aroma of citrus fruit and floral notes. Well-balanced malty and citrusy flavor. Lemony. The alcohol is well hidden. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, dry, bitter finish. Good bock!

Clear sparkling pale yellow body with a big foamy white head that has good lasting power and clings to the glass in sheets. Sweet malty aroma with some bread and a faint bit of hops. Flavor is sweet up front then some bread and a good dose of hops with some bitterness. After the swallow some apple flavors come out. Body is tingly and somewhat alcoholic. An ok beer.

not much to look at, this one. on a continuum from clear to yellow, this lies very near the former, about as yellow as a chain-smoker's fingers. typical lager head billows and collapses in the same minute. has some superficial similarities to an american malt liquor until the aroma is appreciated: it seems unsullied and genuine, though simple in it's alcohol-imbued flat-bread malts, and it's hoppy gesture in the likeness of green apples and clover. very creamy with watered honey sweetness slightly outweighing the envelope-glue bitterness. alcohol runs unleashed throughout, snapping at the heels of passersby. is this what hobos in austria drink?

Apple juice body with white foamy head that slowly disappears, leaving nice lacing. Aroma is sweet malty with some whiskeyness. Flavor is sweet malty and alcohol. No real bitterness, though a slight alcohol burn in the swallow. Decent body.
