3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is one of the better pilsners that I have had. Nice malt flavor to it that wasn’t overbearing but wasn’t absent either like some of the other pilsners that I have had. Crisp finish with some hoppy flavors. The aftertaste was wonderful. Hard to describe but you can tell that this is a time-perfected recipe. The glass that I got with it (pictured) is made of crystal which really set this one off with some style points too!

I think I got this at the LCBO in Ottawa and I remember it being an assertive well done pils. Page 412 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 259 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from the importer. Light golden-yellow with a large, snow white head. Given the green bottle, I was expecting some skunk in the aroma, but it was actually quite clean and fresh, with soft malt and sharp herbal hop notes. Thin, crisp body. Flavour starts quite sweet, reminding me a bit of marshmallows, some notes of orange and honey, and a quick, herbal finish. A bit sweeter than I like from a pils, but otherwise, this is a pretty decent beer.

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bouteille de 33 cl verte. Blonde claire, pas pire collet avec de la dentelle. Arome d’houblon moufette, un peu métalique. Goût passable d’houblon sec et faiblement sucré.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. Crisp forced carbonation and a noticeable dry dusty bite in the finish. Salt lingers. Malt is fairly clean, with some biscuit notes. This is a dry, almost harsh beer. There’s nothing wrong with it, and for those who count a high level of bitterness to be a sign of quality, the hop extract used here will certainly persuade them they are dealing with a first class brew. I liked it. It’s clean, refreshing and has some flavour. 10 months to go before the BBE date, so fairly fresh - which may account for the hop bite.

Bottle - A golden colored beer. Thin head. A refreshing, moderately malty beer. A bit mild without much bite.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a light clear gold with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma is somewhat sugary sweet and grainy with a hint of hops -- thankfully it doesn’t seem to be skunky but I still don’t care much for it. Mild flavour, also sugary sweet with grain, hops, some cloying honey and a bitter finish. Light bodied. I didn’t care for this at all, quite disappointing.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Grassy nose, some hops, pale yellow, small white head. Malt flavour has a mineralness to it, slight hops, light bodied, nicely bitter. Average, I hoped for better from this Brewery.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Hmm. Does not set itself apart in any way. Lively. Just tastes like somebody poured St. Pauli Girl and Mickey’s together in the same bottle. A teeny tiny notch above generic. Kinda bloaty.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: NOV 2, 2006 Bottle (330ml - green). Bright clear gold, fairly bubbly, with a smallish quick-diminishing head. Grainy, somewhat skunky hop aroma,a little sweet. Taste is light, again the skunky/funky hops providing the bitterness that keeps the sweet grain/honey malt from dominating - it finishes pretty bitter, there’s a lot of hop character here. Average body, nice astringency and decent carbonation, longish finish - this would be excellent fresh, just the damned green bottle yields the usual skunk character - part marks for what I imagine it would be like, if that makes sense.
