2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Reviewed 12/25/2012. 11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a lighter straw color with fantastic clarity. The head is a one finger white color with okay retention. Basically, it’s everything you’d expect a decent pilsner to look like.
S: I was really wary when I first popped open the weird pulltab and whiffed a MASSIVE amount of skunk, but in the glass it’s calmed down well. Lots of zesty noble hops with no real malt aroma. Weak in general, but not bad.
T: There’s almost a green pepper flavor that really catches me off guard - yeah, it definitely tastes like bell pepper. Not really a good thing. There’s a bit of grass and sweet malts on the finish, but that off flavor really throws everything off guard.
M: Well carbonated and nicely light - there’s no mouthfeel problems keeping it from going down easy, just the flavors.
O: This...doesn’t work. The pepper character kills what could have been a good pilsner. At the very least, it would pair decently with Mexican food.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This pilsner is properly hoppy and very smooth. The malt is thin, and less grainy in flavor than Stigl. The spice of the Saaz comes out for the finish. It is drinkable and satisfying, but I find the Austrian pilsners generally inferior to the Czech brews.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
I’m not the biggest fan of pilsener beers, but this one was quite satisfying. Definitely more noticeably hopped than a typical pils (Urquell) while still maintaining the crispy freshness one would expect. In fact it was nice.

Ok this is a disappointment. By all outward appearances this should be a solid beer but the flavor is skunky.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bouteille 330ml.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Flasche 50cl. Körperreiches, süffiges Pils. Die filigrane Hopfennote weicht leider im Nachgang einer metallischen Note. Trotzdem handwerklich solide gemachtes Pils, ohne jedoch den Saazer-Trumpf voll auszuspielen. Schade!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle. Light, golden pilsner style beer. Metallic nose. Not much flavour, but very refreshing. Perfect accompaniment to crisps and nuts.

On 28th Nov 13 I had a little Lager/Pilsner session: this 330ml green, rip-top bottle was my third one.
Pale golden in colour it showed bright, clean and clear: the snow white head even stayed and gave some lacing on my ’La Chouffe’ tulip that I’d poured it into, very un-lager/pilsner like.
Both the nose and taste were leaning towards a sweet feel and grainy. The hop content gave it a crisp texture and added a bite to the brew.
I thought this was OK, a lot better than the two different Beck’s offerings I’d had before anyway.
