Bottled@Monks Cafe Wallingatan, Stockholm. Reddish ambery brown colour with mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts along with some fudge and mild berryish and smoked wet wooden notes. Flavour is quite much the same. A very mildly smoked beer...

LordCorkscrew (1774) - Ronco Scrivia (GE), ITALY - MAR 18, 2010
Birra piuttosto dolce, aroma dominato dai malti, poca sensazione di torbato, non molto diversa da una bock un po robusta (ma non robusta in alcool: troppo leggera per la sua dolcezza. Not sure the new recipe was a good idea).

Bottle. Not much "smoke" flavor. Not much whiskey either. Clear gold, amber color. Nice head.

stobbe74 (3789) - DENMARK - FEB 20, 2010
Bottle. Pours a clear, light amber beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is malt, sweetness and toffee. The flavor follows the nose closely. The palate is thin. Overall this beer is below average.

Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - FEB 8, 2010
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber body with a white head. Grainy bread y malt body some cracker malts and some light woody tones. Bread crust, toast, with a light metallic tone. Not much of a smoke if you ask me.

Bottle @ Odense Tasting. From Flensburg. Pours clear golden with a smalll off white head. Sweet malts, caramel, bread and a whiff of corn and grain. Medium bodied. Amazingly boring. Clean

Davros (1859) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 2, 2010
Pours amber with a dismal head. Smells like Heineken - loads of grassy Euro hops. Too grassy, almost skunky. No smoke whatsoever, although there is a woody note, almost peaty. Same story with the taste, this could pass as a grassy, pale lager. The only interesting point is that same faint woody hint. Very watery, too much carbonation.

Bottle at The Monks Table. Here is what I wrote about the original 7.3% version a few years ago: "Label says "red ale", but its more of a bright gold with a reddish tinge and a good sized white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, perhaps a hint of smoke, but it could be that Im imagining it because Im expecting it to be there. Flavour is quite sweet, dried fruit and caramel, with whisky-like warm alcohol coming through as it warms. Im back and forth on this one - its OK for what it is, but its not something I would want to drink very often." Aside from the bit about "whisky-like warm alcohol coming through as it warms", my notes and thoughts for this new version are very similar.
