Bottle. Pours a clear, light amber beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is malt, sweetness and toffee. The flavor follows the nose closely. The palate is thin. Overall this beer is below average.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber body with a white head. Grainy bread y malt body some cracker malts and some light woody tones. Bread crust, toast, with a light metallic tone. Not much of a smoke if you ask me.

Bottle @ Odense Tasting. From Flensburg. Pours clear golden with a smalll off white head. Sweet malts, caramel, bread and a whiff of corn and grain. Medium bodied. Amazingly boring. Clean

Pours amber with a dismal head. Smells like Heineken - loads of grassy Euro hops. Too grassy, almost skunky. No smoke whatsoever, although there is a woody note, almost peaty. Same story with the taste, this could pass as a grassy, pale lager. The only interesting point is that same faint woody hint. Very watery, too much carbonation.

Bottle at The Monk’s Table. Here is what I wrote about the original 7.3% version a few years ago: "Label says "red ale", but it’s more of a bright gold with a reddish tinge and a good sized white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, perhaps a hint of smoke, but it could be that I’m imagining it because I’m expecting it to be there. Flavour is quite sweet, dried fruit and caramel, with whisky-like warm alcohol coming through as it warms. I’m back and forth on this one - it’s OK for what it is, but it’s not something I would want to drink very often." Aside from the bit about "whisky-like warm alcohol coming through as it warms", my notes and thoughts for this new version are very similar.

Bottle. The aroma is quite malty, light sour and a strong smell if bread. The head is small, fizzy and white, fast disappearing. The body is dark orange. The taste is first quite malty, but it is not long lasting. The body is medium strong, creamy and with a soft carbonation.

Bottle. Pours golden orange, almost bronze, with a short white head that doesn’t last long. Aroma is very light and only has the faintest suggestion of smokiness as well as hints of biscuity malt, caramel and nuts. Flavour has a slightly stronger whisky presence but it is still pretty mild and other notes of malt, wood and caramel. Light body, thin mouthfeel and a short bitter finish. This is a pretty ordinary beer, drinkable but not particularly memorable.

Bottle 330ml. Interesting beer. Aromas of malty caramel, spices, and some smokiness. Flavour is sweet, with average duration. Watery in the palate, and thin-medium body. Dark yellow in the glass, bubbly, with a frothy head that lasts long.
