Bottle. Poured clear amber with an average white frothy head that was mostly lasting with very good lacing. Moderate woody grass hop aroma. Medium body. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

A light golden ale with a thick receeding white head. A rather sweet berry aroma, with honey notes, but not smoked. In mouth, a semi sweet cardboardy malt with light german hops, and again, no signs of smoke. Boring and plain. Bieropholie import, although this used to be available at the SAQ a few years ago.

bottle from total wine. some carbonation but the head fades quickly. very pale gold, more orange and hardly red at all. mild bready aroma. medium body, with a fairly dry finish, only a mild lingering caramel sweetness. hides the 7% pretty well, but otherwise not worth alot of attention.

Bottle. Label says "red ale", but it’s more of a bright gold with a reddish tinge and a good sized white head. Aroma is quite sweet and malty, perhaps a hint of smoke, but it could be that I’m imagining it because I’m expecting it to be there. Flavour is quite sweet, dried fruit and caramel, with whisky-like warm alcohol coming through as it warms. I’m back and forth on this one - it’s OK for what it is, but it’s not something I would want to drink very often.

Bottle. Pours a golden/amber color with a decent white head. Aroma is mostly on the malty side, with a little yeasty/doughy attributes. Flavor is on the weak side, with some malt, yeast and a slight metallic quality. I did not discern any hint of smoke or whiskey in either aroma or flavor.

Bought this at John’s Market in Portland. Smokey peaty and a interesting brew must try again. Page 299 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 326 out of his 500 Classic Brews to go.

Pours with an amber hue, off white head, quite large, stays throughout the experience. Quite caramelly taste very heavy fruity notes that do not entirely please me, overall this is not that pleasant a beer. I don’t know if I would categorize this as a "smoked" as ratebeer.com does...more of a scotch ale.

Tap. Golden yellow with a very thin film head. Aroma has apples, elderflowers and some malts. Taste is a little weak (but perhaps it has been poured a bit too cold?). Slightly citric, smoky and vinious.
