BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Feb 19, 2007 Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a thin off-white head. The aroma was sweet with fruits and a molasses background. Sweet flavor with fruits (raisins & prunes), caramel , and spices. Medium body and the carbonation is slightly on the tingly side. Sweet aftertaste. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Feb 4, 2007 Orange pour, moderate head, average at best lacing and retention. Aroma is lightly smoked with caramel and lesser fruit notes. High carbonation, medium to light bodied. Some interesting stuff going on here, but overall not that enjoyable. JayBaxter (386), Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Jan 21, 2007 Pours clear amber with a very thin lager like head. Aroma is sweet and malty with a similar taste - but smoke....nope. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jan 17, 2007 Smoked? I didn’t get that at all. Poured a light amber color with little to no head. Very malty nose, maybe a touch of a a brandy or whiskey-like note; flavor is soft and malty, definite alcohol presence. Thin bodied, lightly carbonated and very silky smooth on the palate. Not bad. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 5, 2007 Clear golden body topped by a little white ring. Not a very flavourful beer, even the alcohol taste is missing. Light body, soft carbonation, a little toasted bread taste, a touch of smoke, some ashes, Not even a flavour whisky malt which is supposed to be the main taste. Boring and without personality. Junk-beer, McQueen, do you want fries with that? after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Dec 27, 2006 33,cl. Pours a light-medium, perfectly clear amber. Light, moussy white head with lots of clingy whipped-egg-white lace. Cloying bready, datey, toffee-ish nose. Weak body, low carb, aggressive flavors: the bread, dates, and toffee come through, along with an overwhelming sour metallic tang for the finish. Evidently that tang is supposed to be the smoke. Not a disaster, but you can see them from here. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Dec 23, 2006 Decent white head of fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Light smoked pork aroma. Kind of hammy. Moderate malty aroma with a bit of spice and yeast. Color is a dirty gold. Thin body and flavor. Little metallic. This is a smoked. Not really in my opinion. Hardly any smoke in the flavor. Light peat and malts. Hides its alcohol pretty darn well. Little smoke shows up late swallow and in the finish but really nothing to brag about. Whisky notes? Uh uh. I get nuttin. This is bit of a dissapointment from a brewer that I really enjoy! jerohen (1602), Bussum, Netherlands Dec 16, 2006 Dark golden coloured with small head, clear although some crap is floating around (dirty glassware?). Malty aroma, somewhat smoked. Malty flavour, some smoke with a bit of alcohol shining through. Reasonably complex. Takes some getting used to, but after a few sips i started to appreciate it. I like the whisky notes (but hey, i like whisky). Quite ok.
