Pours amber with a thick but light head. Aromatic hops and malt prominant on the nose but not much complexity. Mouth is a bit sweet and quite malty. Not a lot of complexity. Body is medium-full and a bit syrupy. Some tannins-feel at the end witha lingering malt taste.

Light copper with a small white head. Aroma is sweet - brown sugar, banana, maybe a touch of clove and some yeast. Flavor is a bit fruity - kind of tasted like over-ripened apples, but this fades into a somewhat grassy, dry finish, with some anise notes. Mouth feel is a bit syrupy, but the alcohol is well masked. to me, it kind of tastes like a maibock in some respects.

A very strange beer indeed as i dont find it to be a smoked beer, more like an english barley wine. It was thinner than something thats really thin and had some solid alcohol and burnt brown sugar in the aroma. The body was kinda like water with some brown sugar in it, actually it kinda was like a bad cognac.

Smoked? Really? I got none of that. This beer was a lot like a red ale mixed with an eisbock. It had the consistency and oily feel of an eisbock but had some apple and carmel and some grains with some nutty stuff goin on. hmmm... oh yeah and lots of sap or molasses or somethin

Medium red-orange hue with a thin, off-white, frothy head. Huge molasses aroma with some smokey/meaty notes. Smells of long-boiled wert. Almost sickeningly sweet, yet thin flavor. Medium body with a slick texture and minimal carbonation.

Bottle. Year unknown - it looked like it had been sitting quite a while at the liquor store in Chattanooga when I bought it. It had a nice layer of dust on the bottle. Ruddy gold pour, somewhat clear, though I got some yeast sludge by accident in my glass. Very sweet, almost artificaily to me, malts. Very candied to me. A touch of smokiness. Grainy mouthfeel.

Bottled. A clear orange coloured beer with no bubbles or head to speak of. The aroma is sweet with a little whiskey malt coming through giving a slight touch of smokiness. The taste is sweet and a bit cloying with some smoke but far from enough. Tastes like a bockbeer with some whiskey malt thrown in as an afterthought.

Old gold coloured with a slim, but steady white head. Nice aroma of sweet malts and whiskey. Nice taste of malts, whiskey and caramel. Alcohol is well hidden. More tastes become apparent as you get into it; some butterscotch and vanilla. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Don’t know why the average score for this is so low. Excellent.
