Sahlholdt (276), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 28, 2005 Golden with almost no head. No toush of red at all. Very malty aroma. taste is thin and a bit sweet with some bitter aftertaste. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Apr 28, 2005 Bottled. Golden coloured. Extremely little smokiness. Sweet and rather malty flavour. Rather thin and very boring. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 26, 2005 Updated: Jun 14, 2005(Bottle 33 cl) Beers based on whisky-malt are mainly popular in France, but you do find the odd one elsewhere. Usually they have a pronounced smoked flavour. But not this one. "Nessie" is just alcoholic and bitter, like the typical strong lager. Full golden colour, nice, tall, creamy head, but looks doesn’t compensate for a very disappointing flavour. 090704 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Mar 24, 2005 Bottle pours light golden, fairly clear, nice lacing, small white head, with soft carbonation. Sweet grass and light malts on the nose. Slightly fruity on the tongue, malty, and also fairly sweet. Average body and mouthfeel, nothing fancy. Light finish, sweet, malty, with a bit more of a grainy flavor. Meh... not bad, certainly enjoyable. Didn’t seem smokey at all to me.   Thanks to mattbob for sharing.
Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 7, 2005 Gold with a light filmy head. No lacing really. Very nice malty aroma. Slightly smoky, and slightly spicy. It does indeed smell of a whisky. The flavor indicates a lot of the same to me. It is very smooth, creamy almost with a nice finish of malts. I like it. dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany Jan 31, 2005 Bottled. Clear golden colour. Big, foamy head with a lot of lace. Sweetish, cookie malt aroma with hints of whiskey. Tastes quite sweet, caramelly with hints of whiskey. Mediumbodied, slightly creamy texture. Nice. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Jan 24, 2005 This beast pours amber with a medium white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is very sweet, big malts with a scotch smell to it. I was expecting this brew to have a very thick syrupy body to it from the aroma, but instead it has a nice medium body, very smooth. Very sweet malt start, caramel and grainy tastes with a scotch hint in the finish. For a smoked brew the smoked malts are very subtle, if I hadn’t have read it above I would have never guessed it. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jan 8, 2005 33 cl bottle, no idea of the date though the bottle is very clean and spanking-new looking. Clear amber-gold, with huge bubble activity and a small, lasting fine snowy head. Grassy, alcoholic nose with touches of smoky whisky and port wine...more peaty whisky in the flavor topping a rough maltiness and grassy/herbal underpinnings...as it warms and interacts with the air, vanilla sweetness adds to the soft, creamy body. Subtle carbonation. A lovely, subtle beauty that is vastly underrated here, I think; the other end of the smoked spectrum from the heavyweights of Heller-Trum.
