Bottled. Nice amber color with a fluffy white foam that is not persistent. Aroma is quite sweet with some hop notes. Flavor is pretty much the same, notes of roasted sugar and toffee. Mouthfeel is dry... Good one.

Very interesting...although the label says "Original Red Ale", the style on RateBeer says it’s a "Smoked" and it doesn’t look or taste like either!!! 10 karat rose gold with a 1/4 inch off-white head that leaves quickly. Nose is sugary sweet with just a hint of hops. Flavor is liquid candy...(dark fruit, brown sugar, toffee, caramel) X2..a little too sweet for my palate.

Sampled from bottle: pours a dark orange/golden colour with a creamy white head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is soft of whiskey, caramel and licorice. Mouthfeel is light, silky- prevalent alcohol taste, flavors of oak, grass and pear.

Bottle brown, 330 ml, 16 P
Appearance: Pours orangy golden in colour, slightly hazy body texture, head is initially big and quite quickly decreasing to minimal, there is quite nice lacing. Head is white in colour. Carbonation of the body is intensive and vivid.
Aroma: Nice focused and intensive aroma, noble sweet juicy maltyness with gentle well build in alcoholic background, gentle notes of prune and red wine grapes, pine trees, resin, raisin, nice sweet flowery but gentle hoppyness on top. Notes of good quality black tea, rum or whisky. Slight bitterness in nose of hops origin.
Flavour: Front is very soft, than there is a great noble malty - grainy, smoked, strong retro - nasal aroma yet strenghtened by the alcoholic warmth, on the other hand dull sweetness is totally reduced, there is a nice gentle bitterness and kind of herbal focused hoppy nose. Very well pronounced smoked barley grains on palate. Finish duration is pleasant and long. Alcohol is playing a great job here for making tha flavour more assertive and its presence is very positive as it underlines the noble ingredients character.
Palate: Body is medium to full, texture is wattery, carbonation on palate is soft, finish feel is very long.

Bottle purchased at Wilderness Wines in Rangeley, Maine.Pours a golden color with a slight hint of red. Small wispy white head.. Aroma is grainy & malty. Palate is smooth with some body to it. Flavor is grains and sweet malt with a subtle hint of smoke, and I do mean subtle. It’s mostly the sweetness that stands out. In spite of the beer not matching the commercial description, I enjoyed it. It was quite tasty.

Gold color with a thin head. Sweet grain aroma. Strong grainy taste. Bready. A really raw beer. No smoke at all. Could probably use a year or two to chill out.

Appearance: Golden brown. Little bit of head. Hint of red. Aroma: Rather malty, some fruit. Caramel. Taste: Pretty fruity and sweet. Does have whiskey-like flavour. Info: 330ml bottle, 28/3-2007, 164/500

Can’t see how this is classified as a smoked ale. Nothing smokey about this beer in any way. Semi-sweet nose with some metallic notes. Flavor has more of the sweet flavor, some light fruit notes and a touch of alcohol. If there was any hint of peated malt, it’s long gone.
