McGarnigle (302), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 30, 2008 Not red, but gold/bronze, but this doesn’t bother me. Head doesn’t last. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Rich malty taste with some slight whiskey notes. Slightly smoky. A little honey too. A good cold-weather beer. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Mar 28, 2008 Pours a light reddish gold color with a thin foamy white head. Sweet malt aroma. Flavor is the same, with some light fruit. Just ok. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 25, 2008 [1083-20080201] 330mL (c/o mds, w/ him, blankboy, jerc). Honeyed hay soap aroma has notes of straw. Clear, orange brown body with quick foamy white bubbles. Sweet hay yeast flavour shows off a farmer straw field base with a bit of peppermint. Light-medium body. Fair. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Mar 16, 2008 Bottle. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma is roasted, malt, alcohol. flavour is sweet, malt, alcohol, hint of hop. Ordinary beer. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Mar 11, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Clear gold with a thin white head. Extremely strong, sweet malty nose - smells like a brew day. Where is the smoke? I can’t detect it. The label says this is a red - um, what? Anyway, disregarding the nomenclature, the flavor is big and malty, a bit of fruitiness and honey. Medium-full body, very smooth. Nice, but nothing to get excited about... wait - $4??? I think I got taken. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Feb 24, 2008 Bottle, thx papsoe. A clear, yellow-golden beer with a white head leaving some lacings. Sweet and malty nose with some alcohol, but I didn’t trace any whisky-inspired aromas. Sweet and malty flavor too, and also here there were some alcohol. There’s some fruityness as well, but not much hoppy bitterness were detected. Full, warming mouthfeel, and a finish with some bitterness. A drinkable and somehow enjoyable beefed-up eurolager. Good? Well... The flavour is grainy and sweet and very subdued. Weak.
