Commercial Description:
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986.

Bottle. Grassy, lemon-citrus nose with a little foot-funk and dried fruit. Touch of grainy alcohol. Sugar and malty stickiness. Noisy, aggressive pour burns itself out, a pale orange-amber with a quickly gone head. Taste is cloyingly sugary sweet with a huge wallop of alcohol and the associated burn (which dominates everything). Pleasant warming in the throat and tingling in the cheeks. Sweet fruity notes, incl. lots of peach and some white grapes, with lots of pale malt. Does remind of a dessert wine. Sticky lips. Fullish body but edges closer to medium. Sweet and delicious sipper, but loose and sloppy! And enough to get you sloppy drunk.

Enjoyed this one much better than the Urbock 23° that I got at the same time from Booze Bros. The nose was sweet with a strong honey profile, yeast, and a touch of light fruit. Very sweet on the palate with another strong showing of honey, apple butter, alcohol and malts. Hides the 14% very well, but it does poke it’s head out now and then.

Aroma is sweet with malt and honey scent and an alcohol tone on the end. Color is a deep gold with good carbonation and a nice white head. Taste is sweet and cidery. Starting with a light medium body it goes down with a crisp feel. Finish comes in with a bright sweetness that seem almost like apple cider with a touch of honey, then just a slight bitterness shows. After taste is a bold alcohol taste and warming feel with a little fruit flavor coming out as the alcohol fads away. This is a unique and complex brew. The alcohol seems to add to the flavor in a way I have never seen before.

Bottle shared by Jay and Ian of Toronado San Diego...Thanks guys. Pours with a golden body with little head or lacing. It’s cloyingly sweet and malty with underlying alcohol esters. Medium to full bodied and warming.

11.2oz bottle-pours an off white head and gold color. Aroma is sweet grain, medium fruit, alcohol. Taste is sweet/somewhat syrupy grain/medium malt-caramel, medium fruit, alcohol-lots of it/fusel alcohol maybe like from a drag race car. Medium body. Nice/sipping/occasional. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing.

bottle. pours clear dark golden with fizzy oh wait no head at all. aroma is straight up mead with some apples. flavor is very sweet, boozy, lots of honey, apples, cherry skins, with a pale malt base. warming alcohol down the throat but not a burn. sticky body. these samichlaus brews will put hair where your body lacks it. resembles a mead over any doppelbock i’ve had but whatever this is strong and tasty. split this amongst friends.

Pours just like any other helles - pale golden color, thin white head, and you can see through it quite well. Nose is a little tepid. Some honey & sweetbread aromas. Palate packs a whopper malt character with honey-like sweetness, alcohol punch to your face, and a syrupy thick mouthfeel. It’s not almost syrupy, it is syrupy. This could be served on buttermilk pancakes if desired. Finish is warming with plenty of alcohol presence.

A bit more than I can handle once I got past the intriguing aroma. Too sweet almost honey like. Alcohol is quite overwhelming.
