Vac (2389), San Diego, California, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle shared by Jay and Ian of Toronado San Diego...Thanks guys. Pours with a golden body with little head or lacing. It’s cloyingly sweet and malty with underlying alcohol esters. Medium to full bodied and warming. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2008 11.2oz bottle-pours an off white head and gold color. Aroma is sweet grain, medium fruit, alcohol. Taste is sweet/somewhat syrupy grain/medium malt-caramel, medium fruit, alcohol-lots of it/fusel alcohol maybe like from a drag race car. Medium body. Nice/sipping/occasional. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for sharing. drewbeerme (2223), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 10, 2008 bottle. pours clear dark golden with fizzy oh wait no head at all. aroma is straight up mead with some apples. flavor is very sweet, boozy, lots of honey, apples, cherry skins, with a pale malt base. warming alcohol down the throat but not a burn. sticky body. these samichlaus brews will put hair where your body lacks it. resembles a mead over any doppelbock i’ve had but whatever this is strong and tasty. split this amongst friends. yemenmocha (344), Glendale, Arizona, USA Jun 6, 2008 Pours just like any other helles - pale golden color, thin white head, and you can see through it quite well.
Nose is a little tepid. Some honey & sweetbread aromas.
Palate packs a whopper malt character with honey-like sweetness, alcohol punch to your face, and a syrupy thick mouthfeel. It’s not almost syrupy, it is syrupy. This could be served on buttermilk pancakes if desired.
Finish is warming with plenty of alcohol presence.
SmellGood (315), Memphis, Tennessee, USA Jun 6, 2008 A bit more than I can handle once I got past the intriguing aroma. Too sweet almost honey like. Alcohol is quite overwhelming. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jun 4, 2008 bottle. golden pour with a large amount of carbonation to thin bubbled head. yeast, cherry, sweet malts aroma. huge alcohol warming. malts are huge, maple, sugar, fruit. Much too powerful. syrup texture. dry sandpaper finish. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jun 4, 2008 Pours a rich golden body with a big foamy head.. which unfortunately doesn’t want to hang around for long. Very sweet aroma (of course), pale malts with apples and cherries, cut by a whiff of alcohol. Same sweet flavor with a touch of citric bitterness and a soothing alcohol hit. It finishes sweet and sticky with a low alcohol burn. Now This is a Doppelbock!

presario (2955), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 25, 2008 Bottle at Belmont Station. Nice that you can buy at the store and drink on the Bistro side. Huge alcohol beer that I nursed between other samples. Orange amber. Light head. Sweet syrupy caramel nose. Flavour is syrupy sweet with a huge alcohol presence. Like a high octane liquid caramel toffee.
