Commercial Description:
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986.

Nice pale golden looking. Sweet alcohol nose. Very full body with a candied apple sweet taste. clean finish. For a doppelbock it lacks the maltiness I would expect. Makes me think more of a eisbock.

Golden body, not much head, nor would I expect there to be on a beer this strong. Rich pale malt nose, light fruitiness (lemon, pear, apricot). Smooth, soft with lush pale malts, firm alcohol, peachy/apricotty esters. Finishes nice and sticky, lick your lips style, like when you eat barbeque. Truly lovely, balanced and fresh. Eggenberg is 4/4 in doppelbocks, which I believe makes them the world champs.

Pours clear bright golden with little head. Aromas of apple, walnut, date that are wholly unexpected. Sweet-smelling. Palate is insanely drinkable and quaffable. Flavors also include lots of apple and date. Sweet and dry at the same time and sweet without being cloying. An incredible and underrated strong lager.

330 ml bottle. Aroma is almost wheaty. Color is orange gold, and there is no head. Very full bodied, with sharp, creamy carbonation. The first impression is sugar, then the blood surges from the CH3CH2OH hit. Everything turns milder as time passes. This is a very superior beer. The sweetness perserveres, but it’s not obnoxious. We should be grateful that the brew is revived. It’s amazing.

Clear light amber body, very fast disappering white head; Very small nose with a little malt, a little alcohol sharp; Oily texture, sweet a bit 1-dimensional; Huge alcohol burn in finish, lots of malt aromas.

Bottle. Golden amber beer with a thin whitish head. Sweet malt, slight grassy aroma. Sweet malt flavors with lots of fusels and some cereal. Lingering sweet malt and caramel. Medium-plus body.

Bottle 330ml
Appearance: Good color of amber-gold with rocky top.
Nose : Plum , fruity with rich clean vintage alcohol , sweet caramel candy with some woody hints.
Flavor/Palate : Plenty of dry warmth , semi smooth alcohol burn. Rich malts follow. Decent sipper a bit rough at this stage.

Aroma is a very alcoholic, some malt, amber, zero head. Flavour is overpowering alcohol, some malt is noted. Full bodied, intensely strong. Good to try, perhaps a few years can take the edge of this.
