| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 31, 2008 (bottle) Pours clear gold with a white head. Really sweet, fruity aroma, with brown sugar also. Taste was very sweet, but I enjoyed it. There were flavors of molasses, sweet fruit, and caramel. There is some booze present in both the smell and taste, but I didn’t find it too distracting. I liked this one a little better than the regular Samichlaus. ratman197 (3189), Arvada, Colorado, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jan 31, 2008 Bottle poured a clear gold with a minimal lingering ring of white foam. Aromas of fruitiness, alcohol, light straw and pepper. Palate was medium bodied smooth warming and lightly syrupy. Flavors of pear, pineapplew, pepper and a hint of spice with a smooth warming lingering sweet finish. A very hot sweet beer, I don’t recommend it. robertjm (403), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 29, 2008 This stuff has got to be filtered. It is absolutely crystal clear!! Poured slight head which pretty much died immediately upon hitting the glass, leaving a little ring foam along the sides. Color of dark straw. Thick mouthfeel, very heavy with malt, as expected for something that heavy in alcohol. Warming sensation comes up in the back of the throat almost immediately upon taking a sip. Tones of rubbing alcohol in the aftertaste. This is most definately a sipping beer, but I’m not really sure I’d want to sip it on a regular basis, especially at $7/btl at Ledger’s in Berkeley, CA.. I suppose I’ll got back and see if they have any more and lay a couple down for trying in a couple of years. Lord knows if its going to be another 19 years before they bottle it again!!!! | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 29, 2008 Clear golden orange, moderate to small head with some lacing and retention. Aroma is dominated by grain and is quite hot. Some vague fruity notes, but it’s not very promising. Very sweet sugary grain flavor with a lot of alcohol. Sloppy. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 27, 2008 2007 Vintage. 11.2 oz bottle served in a brandy snifter. Poured a clear pale gold. Thin white head that dissipated quickly. Boozy aroma with a little fruit. Very full bodied almost syrup. Lots of malt sweetness with some caramel. There is a little bit of hop bitter. Warming but not hot considering the ABV.
A nice beer to sip on a cold evening. For malt lovers only! Tiboron (13), Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Well then, this isn’t to bad, though it’s a bit big for the britches. Pours a very clear golden yellow with not much of a head. The nose is sweet! Alcoholic with strong floral overtones. Hops? Huh, is this a first machination of an IIPA? Not quite. Though very alcoholic and rather malty. But exceedingly subtle after the alcohol. Full and creamy and slick in the mouth, lovely really. Incredibly sweet! Alcoholic booze nitemare! But still very fun. Some floral hops. Some fruity hops? Rich sweet light malt. Which is hard to do. This is kind of like a whiskey/ beer liquor. Lingering alcohol heat in a slightly toasty dopplebock finish. Tons of heat, but here it works. I’ll have to see what this is like after some time. Good thing I bought three others.
