Commercial Description:
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986.

Merry Christmas! And look, a present even before Santa got here - a one year aged Samichlaus Helles! A hale, Caribbean beach clear, amber gold body, a thin light snow of a head, and a scent of sugars - honey, brown sugar, caramel, corn syrup and apple juice. All of these sweets amplified tenfold in the taste, emboldened by a goodly volume of alcohol that makes it all go down with an ear-warming, impermeable to the outside vortex of cold type of smile. Not as good as the original, but the style is familiar. Merry Christmas everyone!

tronraner’s Xmas Eve Eve Eve Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to Suttree. Pale orange-golden color with a thin white head and syrupy high alcohol. Big alcohol aroma and toasty malts. Taste of light grainy malts, some fruit and caramel and a big malty sweet and syrupy finish with an alcohol warming.

I saved this for a tasting because, frankly, I could not face this alone. extremely, uncomforatably viscous on the palate. Predicatably boozy and sweet. Not my thing.

2007 bottle. Pours a brilliantly clear with fair white head. Sweet burning vanilla alcohol aroma. Nice warming sensation. Good for a novelty, but too expensive. Reminds me of a high alc. hurricane

A clear amber colored beer, with a small beige head. It disappears quickly. The aroma of caramel, sweet malt and fruits. And alcohol. The taste is sweet, burny alcohol, spicey some pepper. There are notes of porto. The aftertaste is burney and a little bitter.
