Commercial Description:
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986.

I saved this for a tasting because, frankly, I could not face this alone. extremely, uncomforatably viscous on the palate. Predicatably boozy and sweet. Not my thing.

2007 bottle. Pours a brilliantly clear with fair white head. Sweet burning vanilla alcohol aroma. Nice warming sensation. Good for a novelty, but too expensive. Reminds me of a high alc. hurricane

A clear amber colored beer, with a small beige head. It disappears quickly. The aroma of caramel, sweet malt and fruits. And alcohol. The taste is sweet, burny alcohol, spicey some pepper. There are notes of porto. The aftertaste is burney and a little bitter.

Honeycomb aroma with alcohol heat like a barleywine, light clear amber. Incredibly complex: pine, honey, orange syrup, sunshine and happiness. Thickest Helles I have ever met, more approachable and with more distinct flavors than the more popular cousin.

2007 Bottle. Pours a mostly translucent golden with orange notes and a medium bubbly/creamy white head that left lacing. Aroma of sweet malts, tropical fruits, vanilla, melons, apple and light grainy notes. Overall sweet and syrupy aroma...but in a good way. Flavor of green apples, honey, sweet syrupy malt, light grainy notes, light alchol burn, tropical fruits, grapes...and yeah sweet. I enjoyed this one...but was a bit sweet and malty. Toffee/toasted malt burps.

Small offwhite head. Light amber body. Deep fruity straw, malt and alcohol aroma. Deep intense malty strawberry and alcohol taste with straw and caramel notes. Smooth, round mouthfeel. Some alcohol heat. Bitter straw and malts aftertaste with alcohol and strawberry notes. Very nice and rounded, dangerously easily drinkable. (0.33l bottle from gr0ve.)
