Commercial Description:
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1986.

Small offwhite head. Light amber body. Deep fruity straw, malt and alcohol aroma. Deep intense malty strawberry and alcohol taste with straw and caramel notes. Smooth, round mouthfeel. Some alcohol heat. Bitter straw and malts aftertaste with alcohol and strawberry notes. Very nice and rounded, dangerously easily drinkable. (0.33l bottle from gr0ve.)

The aroma is not what I was expecting. It’s almost malt liquor like with corn, sugar, and alcohol. The appearance is orange with an average head. The flavor is special. It’s sweet and rich with malt and elements from the aroma. The palate is thick. Overall it’s one I would have again.

Bottle:Clear, copper coloured, small foamy layer; sweet caramel, toasted malt raisins and nuts in the nose, a tinge of molasses detectable, too; full bodied, solid sweet flavour; vinous, sweet and warming finish with a light alcohol burn. Fine winter-warmer..........

Pours a clear gold color, with pretty much no head whatsoever. smells of syrupy sweet malts, some crisp grain, and pretty big alcohol. Holy shit! Talk about a sweet malt bomb. Extrememly sweet and rich. Alot of caramel malt and overwhelming alcohol at times just attacks you relentlessly. I wasnt expecting it to be this powerful. Almost had a corn syrup effect to it. just a monster of a beer, but way too sweet fo my liking.

Bottle. Pours an amber body with a thin lacing. Alcoholic fruit with vinous notes and malty fruity body more specific apple peach y notes. Big etoh warming but not overbearing. Good brew for the high abv.
