COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1987. 32°

Clear dark golden pour with a few yellowish bubbles for a head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee and apricot. Taste of syrupy malts, caramel, apricot, and a hint of green apple hiding behind all the sweetness. Medium carbonation and a heavy creamy mouthfeel. Really enjoyed this.

Bottle from notes. Pours a crystal clear golden amber color with a small dirty white head. The aroma is sweet, honey, alcohol, some caramel, toffee and very fruity. The flavor is a whole lot of sweet caramel malt, toffee, honey, and alcohol. Dark fruits and a little vanilla make an appearance. This is on the thick, oily side of things. I think it may be a bit too sweet for even me. This one is too be sipped.

On tap at PIB 2015, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish brown and a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, dark fruits, and toffee. Flavour is quite sweet, with sugary sweet candied sugar, cotton candy and alcohol. Not too boozy for being 14%. Nicely constructed but rather extreme for drinking in more than tiny samples. Good stuff.

Refrigerated brown bottle poured into a glass. Clear golden with very small white head. Aroma is light oak, medium body, low carbonation, and very little lacing. Taste is rich barrel, mineral malt, and booze heat.

Bottle, 33cl. Clear copper with the most minimal of heads. Musky aroma of caramel, leather, spices, alcohol. Medium to robust bodied with moderate to flat carbonation. Intensely sweet, like licor, with a fiery dried fruit and alcohol character and a dense a bitter finish. Very rich and pleasant.

Pours golden yellow from bottle, thin head, without any hint of the assault to follow. Aroma is malty, not overpowering. Taste is dominantly sweet and alcoholic, notes of anise, figs, and did I mention alcohol. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall a strange brew, may appeal to some as an afterdinner beverage, but to me there was just toooo much booze in the booze.
