COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

33cl bottle - pours clear amber with modest tan head and faint lacing. Nose is alcohol and caramel malts.Aroma is sweet prunes/plums and more alcohol. taste is super sweet. This beer came to me heavily recommended, but I have two problems with it: way to sweet and doesn’t taste like a doppelbock. makes for a great dessert beer or brutal winter pick-me-up. Great body buzz.

Small bottle, 2011. Copper body, minimal head. Aroma is initially very boozy. I guess at 14% it is inevitable. As it sits in a glass it mellows a bit and turns fruity and sugary. This is the strongest beer that I have ever tried. Taste is caramelly sweet with raisins and rye. Maintains a nice balance between its sweetness and the alcohol burn. It’s certainly a fitting drink for the coldest night of the winter.

Bottle pours bright copper with no head to speak of. Tastes of vanilla, malt, caramel, toffee and brandy. It’s slick on palate and boozy warming finish, no carbonation really

RBAG 2012. Thanks VBS for the bottle. 2004 Vintage. Clear amber with a medium white head. Nice aroma of caramel, toffee and vanilla. Violently sweet. Has strong primary notes of molasses/brown sugar, caramel, bread and toffee then gives way to dark fruits and cherries. Alcohol content is very much present. Very full and round with medium carbonation. No lacing, decent head retention. Great beer - but the sweetness exceeds my preference.

Right off, powerful malty, biscuity aromas wafting up, along with honey. The flavor, likewise, was intensely sweet, richly toasty, honeyed, and contained hints of grape and saffron. Dry at the finish. Completely worth it, either at room temperature or gently chilled.

25.4 oz Bottle ’07 Vintage (Binny’s Naperville) 48° in Mug-Pours a clear medium brown with no head. Aroma of sweetness, caramel, toffee, malt, and alcohol. Taste of the same. This full bodied brew is still tasty but I think past its prime.

Arôme très subtile. Belle apparence ambrée, peu effervescente. Un goût qui est beaucoup plus léger que n’en laissent croire ses 14%. Elle coule vraiment bien. Un bijou de bière. A boire encore et encore.
