jalichio999 (502), Brazil Nov 28, 2008 Caraca!!! Aroma is quite sweet, with plum, raisin, fig, and malt prominent, along with some vinuous undertones and hints of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet, almost to a negative extent, but not quite. Great syrupy flavors of dark fruit and sugar. Palate is thick at first but the finish is a bit watery. The sweetness hides the 14% ABV, but it’s still definitely present on the tongue. Really nice beer. michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 18, 2008 330ml Bottle (Bottled 2007): Strange aroma of malts, dark ripe fruits, grapes, slight alcohol, light caramel, slight sherry, and slight wood. Poured copper/light brown/slight amber in color with a small, fizzy, tan head that disappeared quickly. Clear. Sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malts, raisins, dark ripe fruits, alcohol, brown sugar, and caramel. Light to medium body. Tingly, thinish texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, malty, 14%ABV is very well hidden. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Oct 31, 2008 Very warm, smooth, sweet malty beer. Hint of dark fruit and a bit of dryness at the end. Easy to enjoy, extraordinary for the alcohol content. Many dobblebock I prefer more, but as an oddity, this might be worth trying again sometime. bedainedebiere (274), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada Oct 30, 2008 Updated: Aug 11, 2009What a warm beer! In my unfortunately imaginated country of Québec, still a province though now an exteriorly recognized nation, you can find this amazing beer in many SAQ stores, at 5 $ a bottle. I’ve had 05, 06 and 07 brews in the past months and they seemed to have only slight differences; I don’t know how many years of aging might make a difference. Ginger bread, cinnamon, dried fruit, not much taste of alchool if any at all, a thicker texture than most beers and, again, that incredible smooth, almost soothing warmth. Hop bitterness is a little shattered by the sweet malt. Good but destructive on an evening. Boozy-boozy-bop, Zidibop (that’s how you feel after an unshared one!) oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Oct 30, 2008 Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a reddish brown. Sweet caramel/roasty aroma. Roast malt/chocolate flavor with a touch of fruit and great hops. Nice alcohol kick at the finish. Miamifan1354 (19), , Delaware, USA Oct 20, 2008 Bottle into sniffer. Pours dark red with a short lived white head. Smells like heavy candies (caramel and toffees). Taste is very strong of alcohol and hops. I liked the taste, but couldn’t drink this with dinner. Then again, if you haven’t eaten before you drink one, you may fall over. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Oct 19, 2008 11.2oz bottle. Brilliant looking beer, dark amber/red really beautiful. Very sweet, a little too much. Couldn’t tell it was 14%. Not bad.
