Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 26, 2008 A- Pours copper with quite a bit of visible carbonation. Head is large and fizzy to begin with but dies down shortly thereafter.
S- Smells sweet, dark fruits with a stinging alcohol that hits the nose.
T- Tastes fruity and sweet. Berries and apricot hit the palate along with hints of alcohol that are masked fairly well for 14 percent.
M- Mouthfeel is thick and carbonated.
D- This is definitely one to sip on. Alcohol is very apparent, but for 14 percent, it isn’t bad...quite the opposite. I enjoyed having it but more than one at a sitting would be too much.
tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Apr 26, 2008 It is the Rarest beer in all the world. Well, maybe not. But it was pretty good. Very sweet and sticky. 2006 vintage. Great aroma, like a delicious weizenbock. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
2007 beer both looked and tasted differently. Mabe not as full or complex as 2006. Tasted a little bit of raisins here. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 20, 2008 3-24-08 bottle shared by aceofhearts
Clear amber with no head. Smells of booze out of a paper bag. Heavy burnt caramel flavor. Very warm and "hot". To much alcohol present. Not my preferred beer. NobleSquirrel (1100), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 20, 2008 It’s big, it’s sweet and it’s chewy. Big and rich with some sfruitiness and booze. Not the worst, but far from the best... Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Apr 20, 2008 [Vintage 2004, sampled 2006]. Amber with almost no head. It’s a heavy beer, no doubt about it, with a sweet aroma and flavour of raisin, dades, caramel, alcohol. It is simlar to port, but fortunately neither extremely cloying nor overwhelmingly alcohol driven.
DuffMan (2723), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Apr 10, 2008 If you know what you’ve signed up for, this beer is a real treat. If you don’t have a clue, and you by this as "something different to try, instead of Heineken", then you’re in trouble. I knew what I was getting into, and I was very excited to finally try this beer! Pours a deep clear orange with a brief thin head that vanishes almost instantly. This beer is very boozy-- all bourbon, sponge toffee, and and marmalade with hot alcohol. It sticks to the sides of the tongue, and the finish is incredibly long and slightly medicinal. The booziness really trumps everything else, and is just too much for my taste. A sipper to be sure, and an interesting treat, but to big to come back to with any true relish. I’m glad I could finally try it, but I’m in no hurry to return, even though I appreciate the craftsmanship. ShawnMalloy (119), Auburn, Massachusetts, USA Apr 8, 2008 Pours a reddish brown with no head. Smells of sweet malts. Taste is extremely sweet and caramel like. Lingering finish of artificial sweetener laced with hops and alcohol. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2008 11.2 oz bottle, 2005 vintage. Clear dark amber with a thin tan head that could only be coaxed out by a vigorous pour. Very rich, sweet malt nose, some honeylike qualities. Huge sweet malt flavor, raisin, date, brown sugar and whiskey like booziness. Full, slightly syrupy body has just enough carbonation to keep it from being too heavy. A bit dry in the end. Excellent.
