rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Mar 5, 2008 Pours a clear amber with 1 finger of head. Aroma of fruits, malt, caramel and booze. The taste consists of sweet malty fruityness with a slight alcohol overtone. World’s rarest beer??? I doubt it, but I do enjoy trying this one once a year......no more.....no less because it hides it’s alcohol well and is a pretty unique brew. gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Mar 2, 2008 Updated: Jun 4, 2008Bottle. Pours a clear copper color, with a small millimeter-width of head, and very drippy lacing. Aromas of plum, banana, apricot, dark candy, slight alcohol. Sweet flavors, mostly plum, apricot....some watermelon and apples thrown in. Definitely a dark candy feel. Apricot, molasses. Syrupy body, sticky mouthfeel. Smooth finish. Very drinkable, considering the ABV. faroeviking (6016), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Mar 2, 2008 Bottle. Vintage 2003. Nice amber colour. Sweet malty alco bit dark fruity aroma. The flavour is sweet and malty with dark fruits, caramel and alcohol. Nice brew indeed. lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA Feb 24, 2008 Bottled 2004. Funky smell to it. Didn’t quite think it was "the worlds most extraordinary beverage, but very nice. Heavy toffee taste and thick syrup all the way through. Lots of hot alcohol which demands sips. Interesting thick flavor. vadavid (131), Fredericksburg, Virginia, USA Feb 24, 2008 Updated: Feb 27, 2008Pours a clear dark amber with a thin head. There’s little carbonation and the aroma is sweet malt and alcohol. The flavor is syrupy sweet but not in a bad way at all. There’s a dark fruit aspect to it as well. It is apparent that this is a high alcohol drink and meant to be sipped. The mouthfeel is slick and warming. I had tasted some 1995 and 1996 vintage Samichlaus recently and decided I really wanted to put some away for a few years. However, this drink is such an enjoyable nightcap that I’m not sure my stash will stay untouched. uhre (339), Denmark Feb 17, 2008 It’s very sweet with malt and alcohol in the aroma. There is no head on it and the colour is copper. The flavor is sweet and malty with a burn from the alcohol. The aftertaste is bitter. The palate is suprisingly thick. Great for desserts. mybestfriend (261), Gothenburg, Sweden Feb 16, 2008 Updated: Feb 17, 2008Bottle - vintage 2006. (Aged for a bit more than a year).
Pours amber with a slightly tanned head. The aroma is warm with dried fruits, toffee, milk chocolate and a lingering note of port. Nice! The taste is very(!) sweet with notes of dried fruits, caramel and alcohol (giving the beer some medicinal notes). In the finish I got some sweet liquorice with a great bitterness. Really nice!
(9/4/8/4/18 = 4.4).
Bottle - vintage 2007. (Not aged at all).
Pours orange with a white head. On the nose you get some dried fruits, milk chocolate, almond paste and alcohol. The taste is concentrated (think liqueur) and very sweet with notes of golden syrup, caramel, dried fruits, some burning alcohol and some malt. The finish is both salty and sweet. Shows its potential and screams to be put away for some years
(7/4/7/4/15 = 3.7). SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Feb 13, 2008 Vintage 2004 in the bottle. Thanks to Matt M. for the beer. Pours bright amber with a rapidly subsiding white head. Slightly doughy aroma. A hybrid between beer and scotch, I would say. Has a medium, not thick body, which is hard to imagine at this abv. The high alcohol is very well-masked for this amount of heat. Fairly quick finish, but leaves a medicinal taste in your mouth.
