Nephilium (541), Ohio, USA Jan 12, 2008 (2006 Vintage) Slightly sweet aroma, with a touch of dark fruits, and noticeable alcohol. Pours a clear reddish-amber, with no head, and no visible carbonation. Very sweet aroma, hints of apple and peach. Bit of alcohol warming in the back. Slick mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, but wouldn’t be the first I’d go with. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 12, 2008 It’s not the world’s strongest, it’s not real inventive, but it’s really good. Sweet, like brown apples or overripe bananas, a touch of honey. The sweetness is well-balanced with malt (this being a malt liquor) but overall enjoyable. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jan 11, 2008 Updated: Jan 15, 200911 oz 2006 bottle from Bevmo. Pours a translucent coper color with no head. The aroma is strong with alcohol, dates, figs, and sweet malts. The flavor is similar to the aroma. The mouthfeel is full, smooth and satisfying. The finish is long and caramel malt sweet. Overall: this should age well. Recommended . AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jan 10, 2008 Pours a light reddish brown in color. No head at all. Smell is all alcoholic malt bomb! Taste is phenolic alchohol with again lots of malt to help support it along the journey. I can already tell this is made for aging. A little burn in the throat and nasal passage on the after sip. This beer was made for cellaring! Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden Jan 9, 2008 Aroma: interesting, yeasty. Dried fruit - figs, raisins. Dough...sweet malt. Dried fruit & red wine.
Flavour: sweet, tuna, malty, biscuity... not that good. I blame the fish flavour.
Appearance: obscene, orange brown, sugary, clear. Some thin yellowish, quickly diminishing foam.
Palate: sticky, thick; sharp bubbles; however not too carbonated. irishpenguin13 (27), Leesburg, Florida, USA Jan 9, 2008 nice strong beer, one of my favorites. reminds me of an old ale spiced with pepper. a good winter warmer, especially when aged a year or so after the brew date. has a nice warming feeling too. finishes strong, like the way it outta be. jimel001 (34), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 7, 2008 I don’t know about it being the "world’s most extraordinary beverage" but it is pretty good. Creamy and warm with a strong and distinct alcoholic taste. It goes pretty well with something sweet but the alcohol is a little too strong for me personally. I hear it gets better with age so I’ve decided to save my last one dated from 2006 for next year. We’ll see what I think then but for now It’s a good beer but nothing too extraordinary. wilderthanyou (409), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Jan 5, 2008 I had big big hopes for this beer. The bottle overhypes it with claims of being the worlds most extraordinary. And with a date of 2005, making this beer 3 years old. I expected something special. What I got, was a good brew, even a unique brew, but an extraordinary brew.......not so much. That being said, I still enjoyed this beer, pours a mahogany brown with no head. The aroma is very sweet, with alot of raisen and apricot on the nose. The flavour is very sweet, too sweet, syrup and molasses with a bit of vanilla, and warm whisky alcohol. The mouthfeel is thick, syrupy.
