Commercial Description:
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Tasted 21/12/2007. Billiant amber, with an airy white head. Dried fruit, caramel and perfume on the nose. Caramel and strong alcohol note is prominent in the mouth. Sweet, full-bodied and definitely a "sipper". Wasn’t all that keen on EKU 28 but I think I preferred it to this. Both beers seemed to be dominated by cloyingly sweet malt and the alcohol, without anything to give them a moreish character. Might try putting a couple of bottles away for a few years, to see if the develop a bit more complexity.

Bottle. 2006 vintage. Pours a clear, dark amber. Decent amount of carbonation. Smallish white head with lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, molasses, and alcohol. The beer goes down with the consistency of cough syrup. Flavor is really sweet but quickly fades and the alcohol takes over. Not my cup of tea.

Too sweet for me, but as VMILaxer29 said, it’ll get you drunk. It was slightly expensive, and we did have to get a friend to bring it to us from over an hour away, but I’m glad we did. I’m not incredibly happy about the $5.50 price tag, but I guess you have to pay money to find quality these days.

This be like Colt 45... it’ll get you f@#ed up, but unlike the Colt, at $5.50 a bottle "it’ll cost ya". A little too sweet for my liking, pours dark and amber with little head. Very sweet, and perhaps too "dessert-y" for my taste, but then again I’m not having it with dinner, I’m downing winter ales in my office, while my boss isn’t looking. Do I have a problem? Don’t worry about me.

sampled. pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma is at first overpowering fruit and alcohol combo but after a few mins breaks down into honey, dark fruit, oranges and alcohol. taste is powerful alcohol and candy, sweet sweet honey, caramel, figs. reminds me of a dessert wine in taste and smell. body isn’t syrupy but clings to the mouth. maybe its just the booze sticking around. i recommend sipping this powerful brew over some time.

old rateing: 6/3/8/4/16 - 3.7. pour is a clear amber with little to no head, and good lacing. smell is strong, alcohol, some spice, caramel, touch of fruit, malt, and grain. taste is warm, thick, grain, spice, sweet, syrup, dark fruit, some caramel, and lots of malt. overall this is very strong and gets better as it warms up.

Bottled poor a small head that left a lightly cloudy particles behind. The color is amber but the malt is straw with average hops. The heavy alcohol taste peppers that palate with apple turning to vinegar on the palate.

Bouteille brune de 33 cl. Brassin de 2006. Nez dominé par un alcool puissant. Belle robe cuivrée sans aucune mousse. Peu effervescente. Goût d’alcool, de malt et de caramel. Arrière-goût d’alcool. Un bon digestif par un soir d’hiver.
