Pours a deep thick mahogany with nice head. Smells of sweet esters and some alcohol. Very chewy, very viscous. Flavor is sweet malt and some biscuit. Very nice beer. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Very pretty clear amber beer with small beige head. Smells nutty, toasty, alcoholic, warm, molasses, faintly smoky, tastes quite strong, sweet and almost brandy-like, some cola,a little bitter on the toung, lingering finish that’s too sweet for me. Aromas and flavors are attractive but in the end the alcohol and the sweetness are overwhelming. Not nearly good eneough to justify the price ($6 for 11.2oz.) | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 12, 2007 2007 version. On prising the cap, aromas surprisingly....well, beery, with an innocuous lagery yeastiness. Once it’s decanted, the nose really opens up with juicy orange fruit, liquorice, caramelised malt, Benelin and raisin. Froths up a bit from a height, but subsides into the headless stillness and clarity of strawberry jelly. Instantly numbing and narcotic. Slides down smoothly with the soothing wintery glow of a fortified wine. Puckeringly sweet and sherryish, but nowhere near cloying. The fruit keeps things from getting overly syrupy. Honeyed apricot and currant, liquorice, rich cakey malt, demerara and caramel to the fore. EKU 28 probably the nearest parallel. Insanely smooth, decadently malty sipper best shared. 330ml bottle from Inspire, Coventry. unclemattie (2401), Georgia, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Updated: Feb 2, 2009First rating (33 cl bottle from Systembolaget) 2007 bottle. Pours looking and sounding like a soda pop. the "head" also looks like a freshly poured coke, dissapears as fast and in the same way. Clear brown color, no head at all just 2 seconds after poured. Sweet malty and alcohol scent. Some spicy peppar tones as well, most likely higher alcohols. Full malty and alcohol taste, warming alcohol feeling. Would most likely age very well since it almost have some raissin tones even in the very "fresh" one. Full mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Spicy alcohol finish and sweet aftertaste. 5/2/7/4/11=2.9

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2007 Clear amber color. Minimal to no head. Alcohol is prominent, but not overwhelming. Has some soft brandy soaked fruit flavors along with a strong helping of candy sugar and malt. The beer is syrupy and full in body, also lacking carbonation. The smell of alcohol is strong. Aromas of burnt candied sugar and bourbon. Winter warmer for sure, overall a pretty solid beer. DerBiermeister (510), Birmingham, Alabama, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2007 The aroma is sweet and inviting. The appearance looks like a brown ale. Amber-coloured. The palate is a bit too dominated with the overbearing 14% ABV. Overall, good, but wouldn’t want to drink it all the time. "The world’s most extraordinary beverage" is surely an overstatement, though effective, since it got me to buy it (once). wj94 (64), Virginia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Updated: Sep 9, 2008How does this beer only have a 3.51 average rating? Simply incredible. Had this as a dessert beer at a German restaurant. Palate is very syrupy, tastes of cherries, raisins, honey. This one is massive, a sipping beer for sure. Need to find a 4-pack of this to keep around!
