Aroma is sweet and creamy with notes of caramel and alchohol. Flavor is also very sweet, with a strong alchohol presence, but not nearly as thick as some of their other doppelbocks. The alchohol is also strong in the finish, and is felt in your nostrels. Nice brew, but not my style. hophead75 (1952), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

Brownish amber in color, with a very small off white head. Aroma is very sweet, alot of caramel, dark fruits, and alcohol. Taste is also very sweet, with alot of caramel, and dark fruits, alcohol is way too prevalent in this one, burns the throat, heat lingers through the finish. Skinnyviking (4141), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Bottle. 2005 version. Pours out a brownish red color with no head to speak of. Smell is fuity, caramel, some notes of alcohol. Taste is sweet and like caramel. Pretty much way too sweet for me to enjoy. This was a start of a bad night for me, drinking wise, and I can certainly see why. Not something I want to have again, yet I still have another bottle. Probably will throw it in the cellar for 10 more years before even considering opening this. Ugh. jake65 (1698), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 30, 2007 Bottle: Pours a very clear persimmon color with a tiny white head that is quick do dissapate. Nose is fruity and sweet, brown sugar and a strong sense of alcohol. Taste is a lip smacking sweet with lots of fruity and a rich sugary sensation. A little malty before the alcohol kicks in. Reminds me a bit of drinking sherry. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel

Bottle. Vintage 2004. A clear red beer with a small beige head. Strong aroma with malt, alcohol, some caramel, some dark fruits, and some soy sauce. Flavor is very sweet, syrupy and malty. Some honey in the finish and lots of alcohol. Full-bodied. I have another bottle of the same vintage, maybe it will refine a bit with some age. 6/4/5/4/10=2.9 sunevdj (1770), Copenhagen OE, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2007 I cracked a 2004 bottle and aggressively poured it into a snifter. Prior to looking up the beer I had written in my notes: Malty nose of a Doppelbock on steroids, alcohol note, somewhat vinous in nature." Bingo! A thin white head made an appearance, followed by a ghostly white ring that briefly dallied about the edge of my glass. Appearance is that of a beautiful, crystal clear brandy. The flavor is intensely malty, deeply sweet, with a strong yet mellowed alcohol note – warming, but never hot on the palate. The body is correspondingly rich and sweet, with a finish reminiscent of maple syrup. Just pour this one over my morning pancakes, baby! There is a modest attempt to balance the sweetness, but I think the hops raised the white flag in the boil kettle. Feel free to put a bottle away early in life and share it later with your firstborn. Bye end of glass - sweet, but never cloying. I enjoyed this to the last drop!
