Dezzilu (211), Whitmore Lake, Michigan, USA Apr 22, 2007 Wow, what a strange and memorable beer. In the glass, both the aroma and appearance do nothing to set-up the flavor in store. In the mouth, the flavor is completely overwhelming: reminding me a boilermaker (beer with a shot of whiskey) or something harder. The finish was TOTALLY over-the-top alcoholic with no other flavors present, as far a I could tell, except the booze. In fact, the only reason I was able to finish this beer was because I was eating dinner and had food to clean the palette. In the commerical description, when they say ’serve with hardy robust dishes’ they are not kidding, this beer would be next to impossible to finish with out food. It is worth trying simply because it is so unique, but unless you like extremely alcoholic drinks you will be disappointed. Oh ya, also don’t believe the hype that this is a rare beer: I bought my bottle at a HUGE grocery store in France. I am sure, anyone who wanted a bottle could find it with out much difficulty. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 20, 2007 Updated: Jun 28, 2007[256-20070408] 330mL (c/o tuqueboy, w/ jerc, 2006 Vintage). Booooozy sweet caramel aroma. Clear, brown red body with a big bubbly two-second light tan head. Boozy caramel toast presence in flavour. Full body. Very alcoholic but nice and sweet like sherry. bergface (57), madison, Alabama, USA Apr 15, 2007 This was awful. The carbonation was almost non-existent, and the aroma, like the taste was cloyingly sweet. No hop prescence at all, just overwhelming maltiness. Also really hot and a bit of an astringent taste. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA Apr 11, 2007 Pours burnt orange with a head that quickly disappears into the snifter. The carbonation stays lively throughout. Really strong sweet bread aroma. Very heavy syrupy body. Alcohol warming like a good bourbon. Plenty of malt complexity of sweet varieties. A long slow sipper. elektronikfagteknikerlærling (892), kbh, Denmark Apr 11, 2007 bottle. dark golden color. medium carpy head. sweet malty aroma. metallic and very much malty taste. very alcohollic. cbkschubert (1945), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA Apr 10, 2007 2005 bottle - Pours a clear amber color with a thin off white head that faded quickly. No lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, raisins, and brown sugar. Flavor is strong esters and light caramel malt. Alcohol is noticeable. Medium body. Lingering alcohol on the palate. A little strong but worth a try. MNovak (32), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Apr 9, 2007 Poured a copper amber color with a quickly disappearing white head. Aroma was sweet and malty. Very sweet and creamy with hints of toffee, caramel, and raisins with an intense warming sensation like bourbon. Would make a great after dinner drink if you can stay awake through the 14 % abv. aubreya (676), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Apr 8, 2007 The color was amber/orange/golden. The head was fizzy and white. The aroma was alchol, fermented fruit, grape, and berry. The flavor was dry, soy sauce, salty/sweet, fermented fruit, grape, and alcohol. The palate was smooth and the finish, very warm. I really like this beer. I think that it’s generally rated too low.
