ianhuntley (4), Florence, Kentucky, USA does not count Dec 23, 2006 Had this beer at a local Kneipe in Austria. Best Austrian Beer hands down. Caramel aroma with nice warming sensation. Nice creamy head, but not too overwelming. I stock up during the Christmas season. waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Dec 22, 2006 Updated: Dec 23, 2006I had this beer at a bar in Quebec City years back by a guy who looked like Kurt Vonegut and thought I was drinking liquid crack. My opinion hasn’t changed. bottle. thick syrupy copper pour with no head and a lot of carbonation. pretty cool to look at from the top. aroma strong with alcohol and sugars, caramel malt and candy. sugary sweet with strong malt backing. fig and mollasses are thick. body is thick and syrupy. alcohol very present. I love this beer. I’d like to age some. This beer just makes me happy Rynoplasty (500), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Dec 18, 2006 2003 bottle. Pours a dark brown with little to no head. Aroma is of sweet malts and a little alcohol. Taste is very good, with sweet caramel malt flavor coming through. A big warming sensation is given from the alcohol but still very good. asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Dec 17, 2006 [bottle generously given by Ben]
Sweet malty aroma with obvious alcohol and a touch of fusel oils. Some noble hops. Sandy golden and clear with a lasting white foam that doesn’t cover the top. Dried fruit and nice sweet grain flavour followed by subtler ethanol flavour than aroma predicted. I think there is a significant contribution of hops to the flavour--maybe Saaz. Full body, a bit sticky, and nicely warming with a modest level of carbonation. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Dec 16, 2006 Bottle. Heavy carmelized sweet flavor with alcoholic afterburner. Syrupy consistency. Good afterdinner winter beer. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Dec 11, 2006 Bottle. Poured a copper color with a wisp of a off-white head. Big aroma of sweet fruits with a background of hay, roast, and alcohol. The flavor was super sweet with fruits and hints of chocolate. Light alcohol and wood in the flavor also. Medium body, smooth going down, and a sweet aftertaste dj (418), Gloucestershire, England Dec 11, 2006 Bottle, 330ml. Bottled in 2005. An amber colour with no head. Strong aroma of caramel, citrus and alcohol. Taste is very strong caramel, honey, lots of biscuity malt, raisin, nutmeg, cinnamon and port. Very complex taste. Light carbonation. A very sweet, malty finish. Delicious - tastes almost like a very alcoholic Christmas pudding.
