Commercial Description:
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Bottle. Red-Golden color, no head. Heavy alcohol aroma, also malts and spices. Harshly sweet syrup taste with lots of alcohol. Very oily texture. Vineous and overpowerd by alcohol. Not my kind of beer.

Small offwhite head over brown body. Rounded, bready, caramelly aroma with notes of licorice and spice, and a touch of alcohol. Deep, sweet, rounded licorice and alcohol taste with spice and herb notes. Smooth, buttery mouthfeel. It’s interesting, but not too good. (0.5l bottle.)

Draught - Clear amber body, big bubbled head; Very, very good nose, lots of sweetness caramel, brown sugar, lots of acidy fruits like gooseberry and hip; Very pleasant body, slightly sharp sparkle, very soft texture and a little well balanced bitterness; Long sweet finish, caramel aromas, iodine and a very refreshing acidity. Superb beer, quite a bit of difference from the draught to the bottle version, with the draught as a clear winner!

Aroma-Very strong maltiness, toasty aroma and melanoidins. Alight caramel from a long boil I would assume. Vey low noble hop aroma, may be Spalt, Saaz, Hallertauer or Tettnanger. Slight prune ,plum and or grape in the end. Flavor of rich malts possibly munich and or vienna, slight alcohol and some fruitiness not from the yeast but from the malts. Some carmelization and sweetness due to small additions of hops. Pours a ruby garnet color.

Another beer from the pre noogfest tasting. A strong raisiny date like aroma. A spiciness with a good warm alcohol finish. A bit low on the carboantion but a smooth mouthfeel. A little more malt would have made this an excellent beer..

Bottle in Florida. Poured clear brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted toffee malt aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Heavy sweet complex flavor with a heavy sweet finish of long duration with a small alcohol bite as it warmed. Complex sweet beer.

Dark copper colour, with an acceptable head. Quite fruity nose for being a lager, almost like a barley wine. Too sweet finish, would like more hops for better balance. 14% alkohol well hidden.

Dark amber colored, minimal yellow head. Whooaah, rich aroma! Caramel, port wine and good, not attacking alcohol comes up. Full bodied. Flavor is strongly sweet with obvious alcohol, syrup, port wine, mild oak and caramel, aftertaste lasts long with syrup and alcohol.
