3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Picked up a bottle at Mesa Liquor & Wine in San Diego, CA. Pours a fairly ruddy brown color with a small head. Aromas are of dark fruit, with the alcohol pretty well hidden. Alcohol is a little bit more evident in drinking, but flavors are dominated by a huge syrupy sweetness that melts into juicy fruit flavors (raisins, apples, dates). This stuff has the feel of port or a very sweet fortified dessert wine or something like that. It’s definitely a sipping beer and will be too sweet for most people. It’s almost too sweet for me, in fact, but I can appreciate the uniqueness and complexity of this beer. Very interesting.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bouteille 330ml.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Scent of raisins, honey, dates, and bourbon. Clear amber colour. Flavour of honey, bourbon, figs, chocolate, and raisins. Just brushes the overly sweet side. Creamy texture with medium body and mild carbonation. A fantastic beer to which one must pay serious attention.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
All of the malt, alcohol, and dark fruit complexity is overwhelmed by the over-the-top sweetness which leaves this otherwise interesting brew severely unbalanced.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Intensely sweet. Malty aroma with plum/raisin notes. Dark copper colored and clear with short lasting head. Full bodied, creamy, and filling. I would like to see what a few years of age would do to this beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330ml bottle from the LCBO. Pours a deep clear reddish amber with almost no head. Nose is sweet malts and caramel with some red fruit notes. VERY sweet with plums and toffee dominant. Some bitterness in the finish. Mouth is creamy and full with almost no carbonation. This is an after dinner sipper. Tart cherry appears as it warms.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Adding this rating after the fact as I have realized that I had incorrectly used the retired listing. Draft. Clear ruby with little head. Aroma is boozy caramel. Taste is caramel, toffee, figs and raisins. Booze is very well folded in. Thick chewy palate. I’m very impressed with how drinkable this is given the ABV.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours clear chestnut, small off white head dissipates quickly with some lacing. Aroma is corny, roasty malts, toffee. Flavor is very sweet, dark sugars, pumpernickel, a bit nutty, minimal bitterness, some lemon zest. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, some warming, but ABV is fairly well masked. Better than it smells, for sure.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Drinking blind from a 33cl bottle.
In the aroma alcohol and hazelnut chocolate.
The beer is brown and unclear and has no head.
First association is fluid chocolate. Mainly sweetness in the taste. Just some bitterness.
Beer is aged for 13 years (from 2001). Wow never tasted anything like this.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear, caramel/cherry pour with with very minimal head that crackles like coke before it disappears (~4.7 seconds). I get rotting apples and stewed purple fruits on the nose with loads of caramel and some lightly grilled grain. Booze is fairly well hidden but that’s about the only excitement with the nose. Boozy and sticky on the palate with some burn. Sweet, stewed dark fruit, caramel, something spicy. No off or weird flavours but it doesn’t excite me.

Brunrød farge med tynt lys beige skum. Lukter kirsebær og noe karamell. Smaker litt som sherry og man kjenner godt "alkoholvarme".
