Commercial Description:
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Bottle. Nice tawny brown/honey body with a wispy ring of bubbles. Nose smells like rubbing alcohol and...alcohol. Taste-SWEET! Very sweet, brown sugra, alcohol, grape, raisin, stale honey, stale hops, very hot, syrupy, candi sugar. Overall this is quite sweet and alcoholic, but stilll quite enjoyable. Reminds me of a good mild English style barleywine.

Not bad. Pours a reddish amber with a small white head. Nose had hints of dried fruit, soy sauce, maltiness. Medium to full bodied, creamy and smooth. Flavor was sweet, alcohol. Essence of sherry or port or some fortified wine. Anyway, it was quite good.

2004 bottle. Lovely ruby color but not much more to it in terms of appearance, which is of course a reflection of the somewhat thin body - minimal carbonation, no head at all. That is what it is, I suppose. The taste is far better, with deep malts, hardcore hotness (man, how many years does it need?), and some big caramel and raisin overtones. Very enjoyable, but not as subtle as I was hoping for. Need to get a few more bottles and put them down for about 5 years, I think.

WOW!!! A beer for a king. The Aroma is pure caramel, dark rich fruits and oaky nuttiness. The palate is a step below of a syrup like palate. The malts is pure malts, brandy like flavor, toffee, plums, I’m sure the storage is in vintage wood barrels that makes it special. warms your entire body. drink in stride.

VERY sweet, alchohol-filled taste. As it gets warmer it gets more port-like.

Pours a clear orange with a diminishing head. Smells of alcohol and metals. Very sweet. Aromas of Almonds and alcohol. Medium carbonation. Full bodied.

2003 bottle poured into a snifter. Orangey brown with zero head. Very sweet caramel aroma with big alcohol. The alcohol really does a number on your nose hair. There is also a cartain fruity, pineapple maybe, scent. The flavor is very sweet. I don’t know that I’d call is cloying, but sweet nonetheless. There also some toast there. The finish is pure alcohol. What a burn. Leves the lips kind of sticky.

Bottle. Pours dark red with a thin beige head. Heavy fruity aroma with cherry, raisin, apricot and just a touch of alcohol. Flavor brings more of a plum and fig character, still with raisin and a touch of cherry. Alcohol is hardly detectable in the taste. Very nice.
