COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Wow I’ve never had a beer this strong. Lotsa carbination. No head and a little to sweet IMO. Beautiful amber tone. A nice addition to the fridge around the holidays.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 9A). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L415515. AROMA: very nice sweet malty aroma with notes of toasty and bread crust. slight caramel notes and no hop aroma. spicy and soft alcohol aroma. APPEARANCE: dark ambar color with orange highlights and translucent. tanned thin head with low retention due to high alcohol content. TASTE: clean lager flavour with very sweet and rich notes of malt and dark dried fruits (raisins). some bread crust notes. low bitterness with a sweet finish. PALATE: full body with a velvety texture. moderate-low carbonation. Alcohol warmth present. OVERALL: a doppelbock a bit more on the sweet (and strong) side.

Bottle (shared by suurjuust, thanks!). Pours copper with beige head. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel. Flavor follows the nose. Finish is sweet and dry bitter with some alcohol. Alcohol is rather well covered considering ABV. Overall: ok.

NikkTwist (1913) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 24, 2015
2014 Bottle at Bierstube. Poured a deep clear ruby brown. No head. Feels like a Brandy. Rich malty dark red fruit. Dark chocolate cherry cordials. Plums and prunes. Toffee caramels. Refined burnt sugar cane. Merlot. Feels big but not harsh and boozy - though the alcohol will hit you afterwards. Maybe a bit too syrupy and precious, but something worth savoring.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2015 330ml bottle. Nutty brown colour, very little head. Sweet nose, taste is caramel, alcohol, a little sickly perhaps. Ok but didn?t quite live up to the hype.

Bottle. A sweet aroma of mulled wine, a little bit alcoholic. The beer has no head, the body is dark red to brown. The taste is very sweet, strong amount of spices, like liqueur. The finish is a little bit bitter. The body is heavy, oily and creamy with a soft carbonation.

(Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Classic) Bottle 330 ml served into a snifter, ABV 14%. Vintage 2012. Crystal clear body, dark red in colour. Some bubbles on top, bursting quickly, with non-existent lacing on the glass. Very fruity aroma, red fruits, dark fruits, raisins, toffee, caramel, alcohol, vanilla. Great taste. Quite sweet at first, malts, sugar, alcohol, vanilla, dates, prunes, raisins, toffee, traces of spices, caramel. Medium body, carbonation on the right level, sticky on the palate and a light alcohol burn. Just great.
