4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Stored for one year. Dark brown, slightly red and crystal clear. No head to speak of. Oaky smell of tawny port, fruit cake and alcohol. The taste tells me my nose was right. This is very much like a tawny port or creamed sherry. Also a similar warming alcohol sensation after the swallow. There are some hops in there, but they’re dominated by a wonderful sweetness. Mouth-feel is thick and almost oily with no detectable carbonation at all. I’m not so sure this even comes close to fitting into the Doppelbock category, but this is one awesome brew!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
330ml bottle @ the 9th Shrewsbury Bottle Share Oct 14, brought by myself, thanks to Geiserich. The penultimate beer of the night and a great way to end! Pours clear with a reddish hue. Taste is strong caramel malts and dark fruits galore with a smooth character and nice bitterness on the finish. A rich and compelling taste. Need another bottle of this!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle poured in a chalice.
Distinct beer, I would say. Perhaps too sweet to my taste. Good quality anyway.
A: Pours a clear amber to brown (caramel) color with a small beige head which dissipates quickly leaving few lacings
S: Perfume of nuts and fruits (cherries, plums and raisins) spreads around when it’s poured. Caramel malts and oak. Alcohol is quite relevant
T: Taste follows the nose. Caramel malts, nuts and dark fruits are really relevant (mainly cherries, plums and raisins). Very sweet and toffee upfront (negative point). Wood. Stingy bitterness in the end
M: Heavy, creamy and molasses. Low carbonation. Liquor sensation
D: Medium. Quite sweet and strong beer. To be appreciated with moderation

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, sample served with chocolate cake. Didn’t take proper tasting notes. This beer doesn’t feel like a beer, it’s like a dessert wine, but less overwhelming.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Clear burgundy. Hay, grain, and dried fruit aromas. Taste matches the aroma. Thick and very sweet, with the strength masked.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hints off peach and raisins, very little carbonating. Taste well suited for rich and quite strong tasting food. Would benefit from storage.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

1 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
If this is what one of the greatest doppelbocks tastes like then I am disappointed. It tastes like fizzy cognac with added sugar.
