The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Stored for one year. Dark brown, slightly red and crystal clear. No head to speak of. Oaky smell of tawny port, fruit cake and alcohol. The taste tells me my nose was right. This is very much like a tawny port or creamed sherry. Also a similar warming alcohol sensation after the swallow. There are some hops in there, but they’re dominated by a wonderful sweetness. Mouth-feel is thick and almost oily with no detectable carbonation at all. I’m not so sure this even comes close to fitting into the Doppelbock category, but this is one awesome brew!

33 cl bottle, served in a tulip. Dark amber/brown, clear, with no head. Aroma is toffee, raisins, slightly spicy, quite alcoholic. Full body, low carbonation. Taste is highly sweet, with minimal bitterness, slight warming effect of the alcohol present. Texture is oily.

Tomada en Cerveceria Kraken ( Oviedo). Potente cerveza austriaca de 14° que no defrauda. Casi carente de espuma. Buen aroma afrutado, ajerezado. Al calentar sabe muy ajerezada, alicorada. Merece la pena tomarla. Muy recomendable.

From bottle. Pours dark dark red with no real head. Aroma and taste of raisins and prunes and molasses. Taste is very sweet, rich, boozy. Smooth. Intense. Definitely worth sharing. Wonderful flavor, but the 11.2 ounce bottle could serve three people.

Clear amber color. Aroma of caramel, little alcohol. Very sweet taste, raisin, sugar, caramel. Oily mouthfeel, warming in stomach. It’s almost like drinking shots. Good, but not my kind of beer.

Tons of fudge, raisin, dough. Lots of sweet raisin, , fig, croissant, porto, quite liquorous, herbal spice and cough syrup, fairly clean finish. Scary dangerous, so smooth and flavorful, better share it :)
