COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Stored for one year. Dark brown, slightly red and crystal clear. No head to speak of. Oaky smell of tawny port, fruit cake and alcohol. The taste tells me my nose was right. This is very much like a tawny port or creamed sherry. Also a similar warming alcohol sensation after the swallow. There are some hops in there, but they’re dominated by a wonderful sweetness. Mouth-feel is thick and almost oily with no detectable carbonation at all. I’m not so sure this even comes close to fitting into the Doppelbock category, but this is one awesome brew!

Clear, dark copper, almost no head. Aroma: malts, dark fruits, vanilla, alcohol, raisins, even some cherries. Very sweet, full body. Flavour mild malts, toast, raisins. Bit alcoholic finish, but overall that 14% fits nice.

2014 bottle. Pours a clear dark amber color with a light brown head. Aroma is of malts, brown sugar, oak, vanilla, fig, raisins, and an ever so slight booziness. Heavy and very sweet palate. Flavor is of figs, dark fruit, caramel, heath, malts, and chocolate. Leaves a sweet chocolate raisin finish. Wow this is like a dessert in my mouth.

Lots going on here in the aroma, syrupy texture, good looking but just too sweet for me. Should have read the reviews before tasting it (but I hate doing that). I’ll wait for the snow and the freezing temperatures before trying it again.....winter warmer.

Caoba limpio y espuma beis. Aroma intenso de higos, fruta confitada, fruto seco, anís. Cuerpo denso y meloso con sabor como en aroma y final seco anisado.

This beer is the worlds most extraordinary beverage? Ehhhhh. It poured a deep amber body, minimal carbonation, and no head or lace. The aroma was sweet fruit, figs, and raisin. Flavor was very sweet, a little to sweet for me, fig, raisin, a little smoky and very sweet caramel malts dominated the taste. Overall it was more like a dessert wine and at $6 bucks a bottle i wont be trying it again. Originally rated on 10/31/08

Bottle 330ml (2007) – cellared for 9 years. Served at room temperature. Pours a burnt copper with a slight haze. Head is small, beige and quickly dissipates. Aroma is rich and extremely complex; stewed figs (strong), burnt caramelized dates (strong), sherry soaked muscatels (strong), marsala wine (strong), burnt Christmas pudding with brandy sauce (strong), golden syrup (strong), pouch tobacco, hints of marmite and light notes of vanilla oak. Flavour is superlatively rich, complex, yet delicate at the same time; virtually no bitterness at all; sherry soaked fruitcake (strong), brandy caramel sauce (strong), stewed figs (strong), burnt caramelized dates (strong), marsala wine (strong), treacle (strong), chocolate fudge and some woody notes in the back. Full bodied with extremely soft carbonation, a syrupy texture and an amazingly long, warming finish. I was skeptical about this keeping for over 9 years but it shows absolutely NO signs of deteriorating what-so-ever! In fact, I am confident it would EASILY keep for another 10+ years! Without a doubt the best beer I have ever tried! WOW!!!

Basically just alcohol. Not much head. Smells like most Belgian ales but with an intense alcohol addition. Not my favorite but I had to give it a shot.

Wow. Smells almost like rotten apples and a Belgium Quad. Pours a ruby brown colour. Taste is VERY sweet. You can taste the booze. Hardly any carbonation. Hard aftertaste. Overall I’m glad I tried this beer. When I got up I felt it. Will not buy again. MB. The Beer "Bear"on

Bottle @ home(Thanks to Sebelinz) Apperance: Clear dark orange with small white head, that disappears fast. Aroma: sweet, malts, caramel, booze Taste: malts, sugar, caramel alcohol, some raisins. A bit too sweet and boozy, lacking complexity. Low carbonation, medium body. Maybe it’s to young I got another from my brother,. And I will see if that one will be great in 5 years.
