The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Incredible dopplebock, heavy thick mouthfeel body, rum in the finish, sweet caramel maple malts, lots of fig notes, ending in big alcohol.

Not the best Doppelbock I’ve had but close to it. Aromas of dark fruit, molasses and just a hint of booze. Pours a beautiful dark ruby color with a big khaki head that leaves a lot of lacing. Flavors are very complex and consist of dark fruit, caramel, nuts and finishes slightly warm. Full bodied. I had my doubts when I saw the 14% ABV but it is hidden very well.

Dirk a bit reddish color with not much head. The aroma is sweet, very sweet. And the taste confirms this. Too sweet for my taste, really. Just way too sweet! The palate is completely flat, typical for a barley wine. Not my kind of beer...

11.2 oz bottle is 2007 vintage. Pours a beautiful clear dark caramel color with crimson ruby hues when backlit. Virtually headless save a small ring of bubbles at the rim. Aroma is caramel, malt, toffee, oak and various complexities. Flavor is malt, caramel, dark fruits, particularly raisin and plum, and a slight warming alcohol finish. You can taste the age on this bottle - 7 years in the making has brought this beer to a very smooth creamy mouthfeel, although the carbonation is still rather prominent. Medium bodied yet silky and smooth. Delicious.

Sipping this one right now. Very surprised by taste, overwhelmingly molasses is all I can say. ABV is perfectly hidden. Great beer

Bouteille de 330ml de brune.arome de caramel de vanille et de tire et de Porto. Au goût note de Porto de très puissant mais pas en alcool. Bon digestif avec notes puissantes d’anis

330 ml bottle from the in-laws. Clear brown with off white head. Aroma is very sweet and malty, vinous, a bit of Christmas spice with well hidden abv. Taste is sweet as hell, vinous, some metal/minerals, malty, dark fruit, sugar and mild wood. Very nice

12oz bottle at Woodruff's. Pours a reddy brown color with no head. Intense syrupy sweetness and great malt flavor.

Soooo sweet... and strong! It has to be an after dinner drink, with cheese and chocolate.

This is pretty intense drinking. Lots of immediate sweet things, full thick mouthfeel and you get a sense that it’s alcohol heavy. Colour is lovely needs more carbonation. Might take a while to get to the bottom of this as it’s full on.
