The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Pour medium copper color with off white head that dissipates quickly, little carbonation. Malt and port like smells. Sweet malt flavor.

Crystal clear amber color with xopper undertones, staying tan head, formal lable. Intense alcoholic nose, barnyard. Very full body, particularly for a lager, assertive and dense flavor, burning hot mouthfeel, lingering aftertaste. Extremely but not unpleasantly sweet, balanced by bitter background. Self description as "Malt Liquor" is very accurate. Complex, malty taste of caramel, barley drops, yeast, fruit. Huge beer, delicious, uncommon. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is strong, caramel, toffee, booze, malty and nice. Appearance is copper, light tan head, clear. Taste is intensely sweet, caramel, toffee, malt, booze, bitter. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, caramel and bitter booze aftertaste. Overall, this is pretty good but a touch too sweet.

Had as part of a vertical at Eugene’s place over a year ago. Good thing phone notes never get lost.

2000. Thanks E! Dark caramel, clear, no head. Aroma: soy sauce; caramel; dark fruit (prunes, raisin); salt? Slight smoke. Taste: no idea what this is like as a younger beer, but this doesn’t taste "old." Deep thick caramel sweetness. This is nice. 8/4/8/4/16.

2006: lighter, clear amber color vs 2000. Aroma (vs 2000): also brings marshmallow. I want to say tootsie roll but it may be a lie. sweeter.

2001: more like an older 2006 than a younger 2000. There is more marshmallow than 2000, less ... (and that’s where my notes dry up, because beer).

From elcervecero. In Teku glass. Playing South Park Stick of Truth. The alcohol is noticeable in the taste but not in negative way but in a warming one. Has every good thing of a doppelbock

Deep copper ruby body. Small not lasting white head. Aroma of dried plum, fig, caramel, alcohol. Flavours of caramel, dried plum, strong alcohol presence. Warm caramel sweet finish. Dried plum aftertaste with alcohol lingering. Alcohol is too forward. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2016 Very intense sweet flavor. Think treacle and dates. This is balanced by the warm alcohol. This is actually rather nice much better then I expected. A perfect strong winter beer. One to share.
