3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I was given the advice to save this beer for 5 yeras or so...but being the impatient person that I am, I decided this 2001 bottle was good to go. Poured nice and virtually head free, which wasn't unexpected from what I read on the label. Very very big beer, lots of malts of course, but you could taste the complexities beginning to come out. It mellowed some as I let it breathe...but I'd really like to see this beer in 3 or 4 more years. Mmmm.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
April 12, 2014. 330mL bottle from LCBO. Rich, warm brownish red. Lighter coloured than expected. Hints of licorice, dominant flavours and aromas of raisins, toffee, caramel. No head to speak of. Tastes like a nice fruitcake. Not bad at all, considering I’m not a huge fan of fruitcake.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
2012 edition. Pours a dark reddish-copper color. Aroma of dark fruits, raisin, alcohol and spice. Taste of dark fruits, almost syrupy sweetness, spice. Has a finish that is a bit sweet and sticky. Moderate body, very smooth with a nice balance. Excellent after dinner drink.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Clear hazelnut brown with a small beige head. Boozy caramel nose. Flavour has lots of dark fruits, figs, dates, some brown sugar, caramel and syrup. Perhaps a bit dark bread and sherry, light oxidation. Medium/full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, heavy sweet and medium bitter. Sticky and warming finish. Licking my gums taste like malt extract. The heavy sweetness and the high alcohol balances well without either one becoming too much. Very much one to be in the mood for, but good to have ready for those days where you call in sick and aim to be fucked up before noon.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Un nez vineux, sur le fruit rouge. On retrouve les mêmes notes au palais avec du sucre candi assez présent.
Attention au fort degré d'alcool !

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33 cL bottle into a Westmalle glass. Dark red-brown, and gassy with a bubbly but short lived head. Rich blend of malts in the aroma, vinous and fruity. Tastes of sherry, light bitter fruit. Its smooth and malty but particularly sweet. Quite the dessert drink. Pretty tasty.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Med ölföreningen julen 2013. Smak och doft av karamell, farinsocker, russin, torkad frukt, amaretto, likör. Alldeles för söt och hade troligtvis blivit bättre av några år i källaren.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, pours a dark amber color with no head. Tastes sweet with some honey and caramel with an alcohol finish. The 14% ABV is definitely noticeable but it is a nice beer.

Bottle 330 ml. Pours copper with small head. Sweet malty spicy aroma. Sweet caramel flavor. Alcohol finish. First time I’ve tried it it was great. Second time way too sweet. Probably should be aged.
