The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

Pour with almost no obvious bubbles. A dark amber colour and not even the tiniest foam. Estery, raisiny, buttery and vanilla. No real hop flavouring. A medium sweetness, with no bitterness, with a full body thick palate. Not my cup of tea but see the merit. and a whopping 14%

Pours clear, almost brilliant dark amber colour, with tiny yellowish unstable head, which immediately transforms to a ring around the glass. Alcohol note is detectable, but also oak, caramel, pine, and grassy - floral hops. Flavor is sweet, with warmth alcoholic note like cognac, with hints of caramel, of some dark fruits like plums, of oak, and with hoppy notes of pine, herbs and some flovers. Malt sweetness is medium to high, hop bitterness is mild medium, body is sticky, texture is full, mouthfeel, finish is slightly spicy, sweet. Carbonation is low. The comment refer to version Vintage 2014, which is even better than vintage 2011; Rate of this version: Almost purple brown colour without head. Smell of oak, roasty malts, herbs. Taste of caramel, oak, roasty malt with little notes of caramel. Very malty, dense beer almost liquoric, perfect for really cold winter time (6-4-7-4-16. Overall: very proper beer for cellaring

Slight dark amber colour with small head.Nose is intense malt as well prunes and figs.Caramel and malt and red fried fruits. Warm feeling after a few seconds. Not my kind of beer but for the ABV is really well brewed .The strongest one so far I guess.

Adquirida en botella de 330 ml en Whole Foods, LES, New York. Fuerte, con sabor caramelizado y un marcado final a alcohol. Ideal para combinar con un postre a base de chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle into a snifter. Pours black, with almost no head. Nose is figs, plums, and dark fruit. taste is plummy, figgy goodness. Hides the very high ABV well. Absolutely delicious, rich flavor. Outstanding.

Poured from 330ml bottle after cellaring for just short of 4 years. Clear, dark ruby-orange with a very thin off-white head and sparse lacing. Aroma of intensely rich toffee, plums, peaches, mango, passion fruit, dates, brown sugar, butterscotch and alcohol. Taste of dark fruit, alcohol, plums, peaches, toffee, butterscotch dates, tropical fruit and wow! Full/medium body and medium/low carbonization with a rich mouthfeel. An amazing beer that has responded beautifully to the long cellaring. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Caramelo queimado. Muito malte. Lúpulo na medida pra essa cerveja. Concentrada, forte, carbonatação baixa, álcool realçado com um sabor licoroso. Ótimo gosto persiste na boca!

Caramel with white head. Caramel, honey and spice. Sweet, sticky and alcohol finish. Overall: complex, sweet and honey. You don’t need more in life.

Bottle. Reddish brown amber color. Aroma: heavy and powerful malt spirit, sweetish fruit tones - like a jam from pears, gooseberries and plums, burnt and caramelized sugar, a little wood. Taste: concentrated malt elixir, oily, very sweet, fruity and caramel, strong, truly great beer.
