COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The once strongest beer in the world is back ! Brewed only once a year on December 6. Samichlaus is aged for 10 months before bottling. This beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. Samichlaus may be aged for many years to come. Older vintages become more complex with a creamy warming finish. Serve with hardy robust dishes and desserts, particulary with chocolates, or as an after dinner drink by itself. Brewed under the exclusive licence of Feldschlösschen-Hürlimann-Holding, Switzerland.

2014/01/20 - Pours a clear ruby-amber colour with a one finger, off white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar, alcohol and dark fruits (plums and raisins). Taste is brown sugar, caramel and with port and booze aftertaste. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky with smooth carbonation and a boozy warming finish. On the edge of being too sweet. Will have to cellar one and try it in a year or two to see if it mellows out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. A sweet aroma of mulled wine, a little bit alcoholic. The beer has no head, the body is dark red to brown. The taste is very sweet, strong amount of spices, like liqueur. The finish is a little bit bitter. The body is heavy, oily and creamy with a soft carbonation.

Smells delicious, tastes delicious, one of the best beer I have ever had. Sweet/malt aroma. Flavor is malt dominate with fruit and sweet barley some earthy hops in the background. 14% abv is not apparent at all

(Schloss Eggenberg Samichlaus Classic) Bottle 330 ml served into a snifter, ABV 14%. Vintage 2012. Crystal clear body, dark red in colour. Some bubbles on top, bursting quickly, with non-existent lacing on the glass. Very fruity aroma, red fruits, dark fruits, raisins, toffee, caramel, alcohol, vanilla. Great taste. Quite sweet at first, malts, sugar, alcohol, vanilla, dates, prunes, raisins, toffee, traces of spices, caramel. Medium body, carbonation on the right level, sticky on the palate and a light alcohol burn. Just great.

Ruby red, no froth at all. Cherry, strawberry jam, hibiscus, elderberry, bread, vanilla, iron. Oily, powerful and sweet. Low CO2. Long finish, with no bitterness. Very interesting. To be sipped slowly.

Bottle 330ml, lightly chilled. Pours dark caramel reddish-brown. Head is almost nonexistent and quick to fade. Aroma of sweet malt, wine, alcohol, caramel, fruit, spice, vanilla, really good smell. Body is full and thick, with slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is very gentle and fades too quickly. The carbonation and alcohol produces amazing gentle tingling sensation. Tastes very sweet but not cloying, also surprisingly not sticky. Flavors of sweet caramel, roasted malt, alcohol, orange peel, sweet liqueur, warm spices, licorice, raisins, vanilla, slight hop, fruity chocolate, peppery, slight clove, ripe fruits, light buttery notes. This is a great drink for a special occasion. This beer is not trying to hide it’s alcohol, it’s more of a lightly carbonated malt liqueur and this is nice. Do share the bottle as it is quite strong and can serve three easily. Do pour quite cold to a legged glass, as this beer is meant to be sipped slowly and it will warm up while drinking, revealing more flavors.

Caramel/brown sugar malt, fusel alcohol, apple-ish fruit aroma. Sugary, caramel malt flavor; finishes sweeter. Fruity flavor. Less prominent alcohol flavor, and warming for sure. Some spiciness.

Almost purple brown colour without head. Smell of oak, roasty malts, herbs. Taste of caramel, oak, roasty malt with little notes of caramel. Very malty, dense beer almost liquoric, perfect for really cold winter time.

Bottle into a wine glass at Split Thy Skull barley wine fest. Pours brown with a beige head. Aroma of sweetness, caramel malts, ethanol, and some light dough and dark fruits. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not great. Too sweet.
