Samichlaus is brewed once a year on December 6, and is aged for 10 months before bottling. It is one of the rarest specialties in the world. Samichlaus may be aged in the bottle for many years to come, as older vintages become more complex. Brilliant deep amber, complex dry toasted malt nose and huge intensely sweet palate. The 2007 bottling is the first bottling since 1987. 32į

0,33 l/330 ml, flaske, 14 % ABV, medbragt af C. Handschuh - tak! 2. april 2014. Klar kobberfarvet østrigsk bryg med minimal skum, nærmest bare lidt store, knap så charmerende bobler. Derefter kun lidt skum i kanten. Meget anderledes duft.

Sweet aromas, I also get some faint smoky notes, like grilled fruit. Syrupy, sweet, oily mouth feel, good body. Thick. Sweet candy, sugary, honey, boozy, fruity, preserved fruits, like a jam (or schnapps?). So delicious, hides the alcohol, except for a little burning aftertaste. Love love love! Rated 4.9 because I can only have one at a time...

Aromas of raisin, cherry, caramel, toast. Lightly hazy reddish-amber with a lasting ring of white bubbles. Pretty sweet, balanced by warming strength, honeyed malts, dark syrupy fruit. Medium-full bodied, a little boozy.

Very nice . I thought I had rated it before. Thick and strong in all features. Very good to drink cautiously too.

Nice amber/gold color; Medium body; Aroma of sweet caramel malt, floral, fruit, & spice; Flavor of sweet malt, molasses/syrup, rich stone fruit, and licorice; The alcohol is fairly well hidden; Overall, a bit too sweet - but unique for sure.

Pours a reddish-yellow with a thin head. Smells of sweet candy and fruits. Thick, pleasent mouthfeel. Complex, cloying sweet flavors. A very interesting, unique doppelbock.

2010 bottle consumed on Nov. 18, 2013 - Pours orange with barely any head. It has a boozy, malty aroma. The flavor is extremely sweet, syrupy sweet even. Itís boozy and kind of grainy. Iím not very into about this one. The classic Samichlaus is far better, in my opinion.

Bottled in 2012: clear, bright orange/ auburn a few beige bubbles; aromas of whiskey, molasses.... INTENSELY SWEET, honey, apple, apricot, vanilla, dark fruit and dark toasty bread... Itís syrupy but not real thick. HOLY SMOKES what a brew! Reminds me of 120 Minute IPA from another brewer, but less wine-ish, and almost more like a schnapps. Gotta change my frame of mind to enjoy it. Itís NOT like beer.

Bottle at Thanksgiving. Aroma is sweet honey, bread, alcohol. Very sweet, very much a sipper. Drinks like a dessert wine. Probably let my other bottle age a bit before trying. (from notes)
