2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
2010 bottle consumed on Nov. 18, 2013 - Pours orange with barely any head. It has a boozy, malty aroma. The flavor is extremely sweet, syrupy sweet even. It’s boozy and kind of grainy. I’m not very into about this one. The classic Samichlaus is far better, in my opinion.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled in 2012: clear, bright orange/ auburn a few beige bubbles; aromas of whiskey, molasses.... INTENSELY SWEET, honey, apple, apricot, vanilla, dark fruit and dark toasty bread... It’s syrupy but not real thick. HOLY SMOKES what a brew! Reminds me of 120 Minute IPA from another brewer, but less wine-ish, and almost more like a schnapps. Gotta change my frame of mind to enjoy it. It’s NOT like beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Thanksgiving. Aroma is sweet honey, bread, alcohol. Very sweet, very much a sipper. Drinks like a dessert wine. Probably let my other bottle age a bit before trying.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a clear bronze-hued amber body with a small white head. Taste is Norwegian goat cheese (not the "brown" version but the actual goat cheese version), burnt sugar, caramel, hints of grains in the back. Taste is burnt sugar, Norwegian goat cheese, caramel, hints of grains and raisins. Smooth, clean flavors with no alcohol tones evident. Medium body and carbonation. Original and impressive.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Way too sweet for my tastes, but given they style it makes sense. Needs more body too.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sweet alcohol aroma; gold appearance with nearly non-existent white frothy head; tastes like a sweet apple wine; light fizz on the palate with a light alcohol burn, but with a surprisingly quick finish; overall, essentially a unique and pleasant apple wine worth an annual glass but not more
