Hazmatt (353), Virginia, USA Mar 15, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown color, opaque, medium head. Caramel or toffee aroma with hints of chocolate and roast. Full flavored. Bready, toasty, some roast and a nuttiness. A touch too sticky sweet. Full bodied. Very good.
Illini08 (514), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jun 13, 2008 500 mL bottle had in Vienna on 6/3. Darker brown color of any other dunkel I had while in Europe. Nutty, roasty aroma. Flavor was nutty and caramel. Lightly dry finish. Carbonation was lively on the tongue but not overdone. Definitely the best dunkel I had while in Europe and one that I wouldn’t mind drinking again. webjedi (247), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA May 9, 2008 Nothing special of note here. Bland dark beer, with a little caramel roast on it. Pretty thin on the mouth, and little to no head. The comment regarding the "floaty white particulate" was disheartening, and was wondering if the addition was intentional. Would expect, if this was bottle conditioned, it’d have more of a kick, but it came off as boring. (Bottle Pour 4/25/2008) ogivlado (2336), Zagreb, Croatia Apr 21, 2008 Bottled(500ml). -Dark brown coloured, medium sized tan head, dusty caramelish nose. Light roasted malt and mild chocolate taste with nutty and toffee notes. Also nutty finish. Just average dunkel, and to be honest I’ve expected more. Hm...first rate from Europe... nuplastikk (428), Maryland, USA Mar 18, 2008 500ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with some floaty white particulates. Minimal head quickly fades. Mellow, watery, and smooth. Chocolate toffee taste is there, slightly burnt. The finish is sweet with a hint of pungency. Minimal to no hop presence. An authentic example of the style.
