Bottled. A clear golden beer with a medium sized and disappearing white head. The aroma is strong and malty with note of caramel, fruits and alcohol. The flavour is very sweet but pleasant, warming and fruity. Medium to full body, average carbonation, long finish with light bitterness. The alcohol is felt. Not exactly my kind of beer, but good for a cold winter evening like this.

A clear orange/golden colored beer, with a nice thick white head. The aroma is malty sweet, with fruits. The taste is spicey, sweet fruits like peaches and a little banana. There is alcohol in the back. The aftertaste is a bit burny an d some bitter. At the end it’s sweet and sticky.

The bottle looks really, really good. The beer in the glass is lighter than exspected. Hoppy-alcoholic aroma. Tastes strong, wood and alcohol, but not too much. Modest sweet in the background. Strong and warming finish. Good beer!

Appearance: Amber. Little bit of off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, some hops. Bit of alcohol. Taste: Caramel, too much alcohol flavour, but still alright. Warming. Info: 355ml bottle, 24/11-2008, 206/500

330 ml bottle - pours medium amber with a small dense white head. Very sweet aromas of grass, grain, alcohol and green apples - perhaps a bit off. Metallic taste, but not from the hops - like actual metal. Thick body, but cloying. tough to get through the bottle. Too much alcohol in the finish. Not my bag.

Schloss thinks highly of themselves with the expressions like ’’cognac/whisky of beers’’ I prefere this to Nessie. The body is a bit too thin and the taste is a bit too sweet

Bottle from Billa, Vienna. Golden with next to no head but moderate carbonation. Aromas of caramel, sweet marmalade and grassy hops. Sweet flavour with plenty of toffee, orange and nuts. A dryish finish with plenty of warming alcohol. Lacking in distinctive character.

Tasted 25/09/2006. 330ml bottle from Beerstore - my last of the first shipment. I gasp as I see it pour yellow gold. At 9.6% I know this won’t have enough hops to hold it up, so dark malt was my only hope. Billowing airy white head, disappears soon after I put the glass down. Warm alcohol and a little spicy herb on the nose. The same in the mouth but worse. Should come in a can really - and be drunk out of a paper bag (by Brendon and Greig, the bus stop brothers-in-arms). If I had something other than a hugely phenolic IPA (aha, but who’s all phenolic this week?) in the beer fridge I would probably not sip my way through this...
