coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a beautiful medium golden in the tulip glass. Tight head with an intense malty sweet nose. A hefty caramel body with mellowed hop touches at end of mouthfeel. Big and balanced but you certainly know this is no wee brew. alcohol is not predominant but it is staring at you with arms crossed. dont drink this one as the first f the day or your day may be ruined. Heathen (723), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jun 30, 2008 THOUGHTS: Reminded me a little of Samichlaus Helles. It didn’t look much like a doppelbock or taste much like one. A nice beer though. And at least it smelled like a doppel and as time went by it even started to taste like one. Hid alcohol fairly well. It was like a doppelbock light. Nice, but I’d take a more traditional doppel over this any day.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium yellow with a small, white head that mostly diminished and left virtually no lacing. The aroma was moderate to heavy molasses, a little alcohol, some fruitiness and maybe some cookie. The initial flavor was moderately sweet; while the finish was heavily sweet, light to moderately bitter and a little sour with an average to long duration. There was caramel malt, then a little tiny bit of hops, but it’s mostly just a malty bomb of flavor with a little alcohol flavor, but not too bad for the ABV (plus the alcohol is common in the style). Also a little grain flavor. The light to medium body was a little syrupy with lightly fizzy carbonation and a light to moderate alcoholic finish. Ramenen (453), San Salvador, El Salvador Jun 30, 2008 Updated: Jul 2, 2008Thanks to ghawener. Drank it during the Eurocup final 2008. If I can remember correctly, I was really impressed with this one. Really nicely balanced, hoppy. ghawener (953), San Salvador, El Salvador Jun 29, 2008 Bottle: nice flavored, well balanced, high avb well balanced. drank during euro 2008 final... germany lost 1-0 vs spain rcasta (472), El Salvador Jun 29, 2008 gracias aleman

ole tarc (47), New Jersey, USA Jun 25, 2008 Lightly sweet aroma, pours with a slight golden orange with minimal tan.head I liked the first taste a lot but the 3 and 4th sip tasted more spicy to me in the after taste. Still the body was smooth with an alcohol finish. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Jun 19, 2008 Didn’t really find this one all that special. A nice find though while shopping for beer at Booze Bros in Reno, NV, along with a few other Schoss Eggenberg beers. The beer starts out with a very nice medium orange/gold color with a 2-finger thick white cap. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, a touch grainy, with a subtle fruit angle (thinking apples). Flavor is sweet, alcohol, and malty. I just didn’t dig this beer all that much. The mouthfeel reminded me a bit of warm melted ice cream...sorta thick and clingy. Meh... BeerGestapo (729), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 16, 2008 (Austria) Courtesy of The Capt, thanks mark. Pours a nice caramel color with a foamy white head. The aroma is of banana and toffee, with a sweet caramel taste !! And the finish was warm and yummy. This was very enjoyable for me, i will try this one again.
