Bottle (33 cl) from Barley Wine, Copenhagen, Denmark. Clear golden, small white head. Fruity, alcoholic, with some herbal hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Some sweetness, bitter finish.

Strong, but not overwhelming flavor. More complex than the average beer, not quite as good as my favorite Belgium beers, though. Good alcohol kick. I’d buy it again.

Poured a golden amber color with no head to speak of. Nice sweet aroma with a little alcohol scent. A nice crisp hoppy bite, but it mellowed to a sweet finish.

Sampler at <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/illinois/frankfort/united-liquors/1120.htm>Cardinal Liquors, Frankfort. I’ve had a bottle cellared for over 3 years now, but let’s sample this as a preview: Surprisingly light lager color, but the pour shows some substance to it. Tastes much darker than it looks. Very creamy malts, almost like a hard candy. Light alcohol with suggestions of wood smoke. I look forward to providing a full report later.

Copper pour small white head. Strong sweet aroma, caramel and alcohol. First taste this is a boozy beer. Caramel and alcohol clash together with some light fruit notes like apples and pears. Creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Aftertaste is boozy it leaves a warming alcohol and a residual sweetness. This truly can be called the cognac of beers, it’s a sipper.

Bottle. Pours a light amber with a quickly disapearing beige head. Aroma is sweet with some caramel, alcohol, light fruit. Body is thick and kind of oily with light carbonation. Flavor is sweet, with some alcohol, some caramel, and a light burn with a hint of hops. Sometimes almost champagne like, the finish is lightly sweet and very alcoholic with some apple and caramel coming through. Kind of sticky, but not too bad. It’s okay, strong, sweet, and smooth.

Bottle - 330ml. Dark gold body with heavy carbonation and and average white frothy head. Fait malty/hoppy aroma with flowery and grassy hints. Its malty taste carries sweet, honeyish and hoppy notes. Ends with a good warming finish. Not a fantastic Bockbier. That one used to be one of my favorites when I was a late teenager, but maybe my taste was not that much developped...

Powerfully sweet aroma, some newly fermented applesauce jumbled with flowery perfume and sugary breads. It grabs your attention immediately. Crisp golden-orange pour with a collapsing head leaving little lace. Mouth feel is thick and viscous, finishes smooth and watery almost like the last half of a scotch on the rocks. The high abv provides a nice warming effect. Flavor is overly sweet with lots of bready malt and sugary biscuits. Flowery with a faint trace of scotch, it’s interesting. Powerful stuff indeed.
