mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2007 Bottle. Pours a light golden body with a white small ring of head. The aroma is sweet, berry-like, toasted grains, and apparent mild fusels. Doughy caramel flavours and alcohol are notable along with toastiness. Finishes with silky burnt malts. JohnnyJ (1282), Carlsbad, California, USA Aug 25, 2007 Pours a clear amber. Basically all sweet malt, fruit, caramel, bread, and alcohol. Although the alcohol coming through isnt that bad. It’s alright. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Aug 24, 2007 330. Pours crystal clear medium amber. Thick, sudsy platinum blonde head. Plenty of white lace up the glass. Big funky nose of old wet leaves and old wet grass. Sour. Watery, slightly fizzy, some biscuit and caramel in there, not much happening at the end other than a biscuity cling. Meh. Meh at best. jeverszeuge (182), Germany Aug 21, 2007 "one of the strongest beers in the world" it is labeled. sweet smell. starts heavy and oily. malty. goes over to a more hopsy arome and ends up with vanishing malt and growing hops. fascinating. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Aug 18, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark gold wiith smallish head. Some spicy raisiness and caramel flavors. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Aug 12, 2007 A Mes rate:
Bottle at GBBF. Clean gold with a rim of white foam on top. Very wheaty aroma with some malt and slight hints of the alcohol content. Metallic flavour and full of alcohol making it overly sweet and cloying for me. Palate is ok but I’m sure that is down to the alcohol. Nothing too special. MarkoR (224), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2007 Nice beer. Bought a bottle on the last day of a trip to Vienna and brought it back to Toronto. Happy to have done so. Pours a nice orangish colour with not much foam. Some fruitiness. Doesn’t taste as strong as it really is. akevitt (97), Valhalla, Minnesota, USA Aug 6, 2007 The beer was light colored for being a Doppelbock. Moderate amount of foam. Aroma andflavor were dominated by sweet caramel malt and alchol. Had a smooth finish. Overall a pretty solid Doppelbock.
