The flavor was just about the same, with some sweetness in there, but overall it was pretty tough to finish due to the alcohol burn. Lubiere (4480), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 27, 2007 A golden doppelbock, very light coloured, with a thin creamy white head. A rather striking neutral alcohol aroma, tequila, with light vinous notes, and fruity esters. In mouth, a sweetish beer, with strong alcohol, light licorice, but none of the fruitiness expected from a doppelbock. Shorter in mouth than expected. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2007 The 11.2 ounce bottle poured a clear but somewhat flat light amber colored beverage with a small fizzy head that was almost completely diminishing and left almost no lacing on the glass. The aroma was full of notes of dried dark fruits like prunes and raisins mixed with hints of molasses and honey. The body was medium full with soft carbonation and a silky smooth texture. The flavor starts out with moderate sweetness full of dark fruitiness. It mellows through the long finish ending up just lightly sweet accompanied by a nice alcohol warmth. This beer has a malty sweetness with undertones of bread and caramel. The high alcohol content is not obvious in the flavor. shp555 (1681), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 14, 2007 Bottle. Nose is estery sour and spicy. Some dark malt sweetness, sticky caramel and a bit of alcohol. Clear yellow with some lively carbonation but not much head. Overall not that attractive. Alcohol is very prevalent and accented by some sweet undertones and the slightest presence of hops near the middle. Finish is clean with a bit of lingering alcohol. Palate is pretty solid. jb (1034), Rochester, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2007 Not much going on with the aroma, the usual figgy thang. Appearance is of a nice color but the beer is quite flat due to the booze I guess. The palate is where this thing turns around though. Sweet. Sticky. Warm and rich. Caramel. Nice doppelbock, but not top class.
