wxman (582), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Aug 29, 2006 Minimal white head along with a dark golden appearance. Sweet malt aroma with some vinous notes. Dry, yet cloyingly sweet mouthfeel. Smooth sweet bourbon whiskey taste with some breadiness. Comes across stronger than 9.6 ABV. Very good and different than other urbocks. I like! D (538), Poland Aug 27, 2006 Dark amber colour , absolutely no head. Sweet and thick aroma, syrupy, complex flavour - heavy, sweet with strong honey notes, bitter end. There is something about this "cognac of beers". PilsnerPeter (2598), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 17, 2006 Thick malt character. Sweet & syrupy/ maple like. There’s almost no hop character. The only bitterness I can detect is a slight grapefruit like bitterness on the back of the tongue. A little bit of cinnamon as well, creamy and nice alcohol warmth. Dense, and definitly lives up to the "cognac of beers." TerryR (383), Oswego, Illinois, USA Aug 10, 2006 Deep golden color with a whit head that disappears except the outer ring. Aroma a mix of sweet malt, alcohol, fruit and honey. More of the same in the flavor. I detect some hop notes trying to assert themselves but losing to this hugely malty beer. Very nice mouthfeel. Long lingering finish with some spiceiness, alcohol and more sweet malt flavors. saxo (3516), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark Aug 7, 2006 Bottle. Medium head with short duration. Color is amber. Aroma is sweet with molasses or honey. Taste is sweet and malty. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Aug 5, 2006 Pours a light golden color w/ a slight orange tint. Shallow froth to none. Aroma is sweet. Light to medium nectar w/ residual effers. Flavors are sweet and cigar like w/ a major hop showing through to balance it out. Honey, cherry candy, ginger, vanilla, leather, and tobacco. Finish has a strong bittering. A killer brew. Hobbledehoy (10), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 4, 2006 Pours a clear golden color with a small white head that disappears very quickly. Aroma is that of caramel, peaches, and sweet malts. Flavor is extremely sweet, fruity, and spicy with notable alcoholic warmth. Like drinking a strong spicy peach flavored syrup with an alcoholic bite. Flavor sticks around for a long time in your mouth. Almost no bitterness. Full-bodied syrupy consistency that coats the mouth. A complex brew, but way too sweet for my taste. onystrom (741), Århus-Randers Crew, Denmark Aug 4, 2006 Beautiful golden color with fine head. Sweet flavor but too strong and very alcoholic.
