jdjuice (203), Japan Mar 27, 2006 Too sweet, almost like a Belgian. Finishes with a weird sourness that doesn’t match with the sweetness. Strong alcohol flavor, not hidden particularly well even with extreme sweetness. Other doppelbocks are better. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Mar 18, 2006 Orange appearance and poured very flat.Alcohol hits you straight away. Sweet but not overpoweringly so.One to try for special occasions not on a regular basis-could destroy too many braIn cells! Saarlander (1577), Saarlouis, Germany Mar 17, 2006 Not my cup of tea, or maybe I drank it at the wrong time, sticky sweetness, with sour aftertaste, seemed infected, this could be, as I bought it in a Karstadt store, where the beer isn´t exacttly controlled. Will re-rate in the future. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Mar 16, 2006 Updated: Oct 17, 2007Clear light amber color with a thin fully diminishing white head. Light caramel and molassas aroma. Very sweet caramel flavor with lots fo sugar. sunevdj (1764), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Mar 15, 2006 Pours a clear pale amber with a white head. Extremely sweet. Aromas of malts, alcohol, esidual sugars and nuts... WAY too sweet. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Mar 4, 2006 Pours a light-hazed, mid-copper color with legs enough to support the illusion that your drinking straight whisky. A brief head formed and dissipated within the same breath. Aromas like you opened a box of expensive chocolates... rich candied-caramel with sweet brandy. Flavor finds the chocolate we were missing with malty caramel and tongue & mind-numbing alcohol. Syrupy texture with a mild gut-burn. Delicious and enjoyable as a "sitting drink".

Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 25, 2006 Golden colour. Airline fuel aroma that nearly burns the nose. High alcohol in taste, with a good beer sharing the mouth, but also eggshells in aroma and in taste. Substantial malt makes it drinkable, but comparable to my having vodka with my beer. Medium mouthfeel.
Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 23, 2006 Updated: Feb 25, 2006Grainy, malty, earthy, hay-like aroma. Golden amber in color...The head is a quickly fading wispy white affair. Honey laden with bready malts. Mouthfeel is syrupy and sticky, but the overall feel is a fortifying honey sweet malt bomb that gets you warm and happy feeling.
