courtesy of bartlebier, thank you! also shared with Bierle and Hugi. Aromas of malt, melasse and a hint of acacia honey, more honey notes in the taste, also some crème brulée.

Tasted with bastarda and bartlebier. Thanks to the latter for providing this beer. Light-orange, clear with a small head. Aroma of Brezel, apple, quince and honey. Sweet and malty, honey-flavour, baked apple and a low bitterness. Full body, velvety, long-lasting taste.

UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 330ml bottle served in a chalice. My first Austrian beer review. A: Nice bottle art. Pours a clear golden color forming a medium, bubbled and creamy white head. Good retention with some lingering lacings left S: Sweet and malty in the nose. Strong notes of sweet grains. Dark fruits. Bready yeasts and flowery hops. A bit booze in the end T: Quite sweet and malty upfront. Strong notes of caramel malts. Some notes of caramel and dark fruits. A bit metallic in the end. You can feel some alcohol nevertheless it’s well hidden. In overall, a quite balanced bittersweet taste M: Full and bit molasses body. Medium to low carbonation. Malty bittersweetness in the aftertaste O: Good drinkability despite the high ABV. I was expecting much less from this beer, good surprise [ BA Review @ 2/5/2010 ]

Bottle. Pale, clear, nearly no head at all. Aroma is clear with some nutty notes and metalic too, although test for iron came negative ;) It’s sweet. Really sweet. Heavy, oily and bit alcoholic. Not my cup of tea. Or rather - not my glass of beer.

I love doppelbocks but this is not a traditional example. Sweet and sticky, without the doughy, bready richness I know and love. More fruit, candy sweetness. Not bad, but a little high in price, and there are just too many better brews out there."

Líquido amarelo dourado, translúcido, um pouco turvo. Não chega a ser avermelhado como propõe o estilo. Belo creme, bem formado, denso, bege. Formou belos anéis de cerveja. Aroma forte, moscado, um pouco alcoólico. Caramelado. Doce. Muito bom. Doce e alcoólica. Intensa. Carbonatada. Tem um sabor que lembra mel forte. Surpresa! Um pouco cítrica! Final amargo, como molho de carne assada. Em resumo, bastante saborosa.

Golden colour with small head. Malty aroma with metallic hint. Very sweet with little bitterness and some alcohol warm at the end.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 9.6%. Appearance: It has a deep amber color with a slight haze and some big bits of sediment floating around inside. From the pour I got very thin and very quick fading head. This leaves the beer completely uncovered and there is absolutely no lacing. Smell: The aroma is big, full and sweet. There are loads of sweet candy like notes of apples, pears, figs and plums inside of a fruitcake like maltiness. Taste / Palate: All the sweet notes from the aroma come though in the flavor plus a note of cherry almond ring coffee cake and the mellow glow of a warming 9.6% abv. The feel is slick and smooth as there is very little carbonation. It’s like drinking liquid candy.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2014 Second rating. First time I bought this beer it tasted and smelled of nothing but alcohol, not sure how, but it was spoilt. This time I got lucky, it actually tastes like beer. Pours orange-amber with a small head that disappears straight away. Sweet and fruity aroma, noticeable booziness. Taste of honey and sugar. Definitely not my favourite style, but I can appreciate it.
